About 1560 ALEXANDER CARPENTER was born in Wrentham, Suffolk, England. ALEXANDER’s father is William Carpenter and mother is unknown.
1581 (about): MARRIAGE OF ALEXANDER AND PRISCILLA DILLEN
About 1581 ALEXANDER (age 21) married Pricilla Dillen in England. ALEXANDER and Priscilla had at least six children:
1600 (about): ESCAPE RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION TO HOLLAND
About 1600 ALEXANDER and Priscilla were dissenters and on account of religious persecution in England and moved to Amsterdam, Holland becoming members of the Separatist congregation known as the Ancient Brethern.
On 16 December 1600 ALEXANDER witnessed the marriage of Antoine Fletcher and Jenneken Richeman.
1609/1611: GREEN GATE ASSEMBLY
About 1609/1611 ALEXANDER and family moved to Leyden, Holland with a group that had broken off from the Amsterdam group because of dissension and scandal. They were known as the Green Gate Assembly.
1644/1646: DEATH OF PRISCILLA
In a letter dated 19 August 1644/1646 written by (Gov.) William Bradford to Mary Carpenter, sister of Alice (Carpenter) (Southworth)Bradford, William noted that their mother Priscilla had recently died and he invited Mary to join them in Plymouth which she soon did.
1612: DEATH OF ALEXANDER
In 1612 ALEXANDER (age 52) died in Somersetshire, England – probably Wrington.

Alexander and his three brothers, James, Richard and William were all religious dissenters. Their lineage has been trace back to John Carpenter in England 1303.
Son William of Cobham became a squire and gentleman receiving the Carpenter Greyhound Coat of Arms which eventually went to his cousin John of Jamaica Island, New York; eldest son of Alexander’s brother William.
