Notes On Josiah Cleveland

Information is based on the following sources:

NOTE:

Source indicates that they moved to Connecticut in 1693/1695; however, this same source indicates that Mary, John, Jonathan, Henry all born after 1693/1695 were born in Massachusetts?

In October 1703 Plainfield was divided and the west part of this territory was named Canterbury. Canterbury, when separated from Plainfield had but few inhabitants, only ten residents on the West Side of what was Plainfield.

If Josiah was 38 in 1699 when he signed the petition to the general court, he would have been born in 1661 and not in 1666.

Josiah’s brother Aaron Cleveland is the great great great great grandfather of President Grover Cleveland.
