On 2 October 1861 HENRY CRAMER was born in Inwood, Marshall County, Indiana. HENRY’s parents are Michael Cramer and Nancy Welch.

1864: DEATH OF HENRY’S FATHER

In 1864 HENRY’s father died. HENRY was only age 3 and could not have remembered his father.

Although HENRY’s mother (Nancy) could neither read or write she considered school important enough to see that HENRY was educated. HENRY (age 25) became a school teacher near Inwood, Indiana.

1886: MARRIAGE OF HENRY AND NINA ESTELLA MANN

On 3 April 1886 HENRY (age 25) married Estella Mann in Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana. HENRY and Estella have at least one child:

  1. JULIA HENRIETTA (b. 14 January 1887)

1886: DEATH OF HENRY

On 19 October 1886 HENRY (age 25) died of typhus in Center Township, Marshall County, Indiana - just slightly over six months after his marriage to Estella, three months before Julia Henrietta was born, and just a few days past his 25th birthday.

HENRY was buried in Jacoby Cemetery near Plymouth, Indiana. The same family cemetery plot as his father (Michael) and later his mother (Nancy Welch) Cramer is buried. HENRY did not live to see his only daughter Julia Henrietta Cramer born.

NEWSPAPER OBITUARY - October 19, 1886

Henry Cramer, of whose illness we spoke last week, died Tuesday morning at his home a few miles east of Plymouth. Only last April he was married to Miss Stella Mann and there…therefore then a long life of use…indeed the young wife mourned the death of her husband. The deceased was an estimable young man about 25 years old and had many friends as well as relatives who held him in high esteem (Oct. 19, 1886 - [on back]. Center Twp. Place of birth. Farmer married father - Michael Cramer mother Nancy Welch.
