Crouseville
1827
In
the document, Deposition of Ferdinand Armstrong, 1827, it
states: "Joshua
Christie, born also on the St. Johns, came to settle last February and
lives near a mile-and-a-half above Bull on the same place lately
occupied by William Dalton, where Dalton had lived about three
years."[10] Joshua
Christie’s property on Map
1 can be located in the southwest corner of Section 5 and is
marked “Christie”. This document indicates Joshua Christie settled
his Crouseville property on the south bank of the Aroostook River in
February 1827. William Dalton, who settled on the property in 1824,
apparently moved out of the Crouseville area after transferring his
land to Joshua Christie. |
