Largo. Born in Cincinnati and a member of the Anona United Methodist Church
in Largo, Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her husband, former Paintsville
resident Bill Blankenship; one son, James Taylor of South Carolina; one
daughter, Tina Taylor of Norfolk, Virginia; three step daughters, Terri
Meredith of Ashland, Beth Stewart of Ft. Wright and Karen Sallie of Flatwoods;
her mother, Agnes Roach of Cincinnati; one brother, Tom Roach of Cincinnati;
two grandchildren and six step grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her father, Linwood Roach. Moss-Feaster Funeral Home of Largo was in

Gwendolyn “Jean” Castle, 91, died Monday, September 4, 2000, at Mountain
Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Castle was born August 22, 1909, in Lawrence County,
to the late Billy and Lakie Quisenberry Vaughn. She was retired from G.C.
Murphy Company. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie
Castle, on June 1. Surviving are one son, Jerry Meek of Prestonsburg. Funeral
services were held Thursday at Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Lowell
Webb officiating. Burial followed at Wells Buckingham Cemetery, Paintsville.

CONLEY Howard
F. Age 82 of Bardstown KY passed away Friday September 29 2000 at his residence.
He was born September 13 1918 in Salyersville KY the son of Tom and May
(Hitchcock) Conley who have preceded him in death. In addition to his parents
he is preceded in death by 2 sisters Alice Walters and Francice Hale a
brother Jack Conley and an infant son and daughter. He is survived by his
wife of 59 years Edith Conley; a daughter and son-in-law Marsha and Greg
Back of Bardstown KY; a sister Allene Music of Paintsville KY; 2 brothers
Paul E. Conley of Elgin OR and Bill Conley of Van Lear KY; 3 grandchildren
Melissa and husband Mike Penny Samuel Clendening and Courtney Back and
2 great-grandchildren Kaitlin and Aschley Penny. Mr. Conley was a member
of the Freewill Baptist Church and had served in the Army Air Force during
WWII. Funeral services will he held at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME Beavercreek
Chapel Tuesday October 3 2000 at 11 A.M. with Reverend Holly Van Hoose
officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Memory Gardens. Friends may
call at the funeral home Monday from 2-4 P.M. and from 6-8 P.M.

Mahallie Angeline
Tackett Conley, 69, of Flat Gap, died Thursday, September 28, 2000, at
King’s Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland. Born April 22, 1931, in Johnson
County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Tackett and Mallie Blevins.
Survivors include her husband, James Raymond Conley; two brothers, Charles
Tackett Jr., of Lowmansville, and Silver Dwyane Tackett of Muncie, Indiana;
and two sisters, Norma May Hall of Staffordsville and Nellie Faye Hall
of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by four brothers
and one sister. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 1, at Point
Pleasant Enterprise Baptist Church in Flat Gap with Ellis Hamilton, Elmer
Burchwell and Jeff Blanton officiating. Burial followed in the Conley Cemetery

Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Opal McKenzie Conley, 68,
who died Monday, September 25, 2000, at her Flat Gap residence. Mrs. Conley
was born November 24, 1932, in Johnson County, to the late Beldon McKenzie
and Verna Lemaster McKenzie. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded
in death by her husband, Edgel Conley. Survivors include one son, Freddie
Conley of Flat Gap; one brother, James McKenzie of Grand Rapids, Michigan;
five sisters, Laura B. Lyon of Hager Hill, Alline Murell of Grand Rapids,
Michigan, Maudie Marie Collinsworth of Dayton, Ohio, Wilma Jean Franks,
of Michigan, and Dorothy Irene Exline of Russell Point, Ohio; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held today, September 27, at 11 a.m. at Kerz Enterprise
Baptist Church at Flat Gap with Paul Dean Meade and Lindsey Meade officiating.

Archie Crislip,
76, died September 28, 2000, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Born January
15, 1924, in Kerz, he was the son of the late Frederick and Rosalee (McKinzie)
Crislip. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a mechanic at
Ford Motor Company for 31 years. Survivors include his wife, Eileen E.
Schmaus Crislip; one son, Edward Mark Crislip of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one
brother William Crislip, of Alabama; three sisters, Maye Ross, of Ohio,
Malta Ross and Edna Faye Grim of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by
one daughter, Marjorie Rose; and one son, Archie E. Crislip. Funeral services
were held October 2 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial followed in Alban

Mr. Daniel was born March 10, 1952, in Johnson County, to the late Wilbur
Daniel and Mandy Melvina Wells. He was a heavy equipment operator. Survivors
include his wife, Shellia Diane (Steele) Daniel of Sitka; one daughter,
Lacy Jay Daniel of Sitka; one brother, Paul Wilbur Daniel of East Point;
and three sisters, Jessie Williams of East Point, Sarah Price of Thelma,

She was born July 12, 1908, in Paintsville, to the late George Washington
and Etta (Caslte) Lemaster. She was a retired owner/operator of Fairfield
Grocery and was a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband,
Bennie Fairchild; two sons, Clarence Fairchild of Chillicothe, Ohio, and
Cleve Fairchild of Waverly, Ohio; one daughter, Clara Snively of Waverly,
Ohio; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services
will be held September 30 at 10 a.m. at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly,
Ohio, with Elder Bruce Gullett officiating. Burial will follow in Mound

Home. Mr. Grimm was born July 11, 1919, in Johnson County, to the late
Bascom Grimm and Sarah Grimm. He was a retired school bus driver and a
U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae
Vanhoose Grimm. Survivors include two sons, Ronald G. Grimm of Stambaugh
and Chris Grimm of Paintsville; one brother, Bert Grimm of West Van Lear;
one sister, Beatrice Patrick of Paintsville; three grandchildren and one

daughters, Ruth Ann Williamson of Inez, Oretha Hamilton of Staffordsville,

County resident Dola Jackson Sr., 97, died Sunday, September 24, 2000,
at Wurtland Manor Nursing Home in Wurtland. Mr. Jackson was born March
15, 1903, in Johnson County, to the late Albert Jackson and Mary Jackson.
He was a retired laborer and a member of the Baptist faith. He was also
preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Blair, in 1967. Survivors include
one son, Dola Jackson Jr. of Summit; one daughter, Frankie Frankes of Cleveland,
Ohio; six grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were
held September 27 at the Lazear Funeral Home with Dr. C.J. Adkins officiating.

Jackson, in 1989 and a son, Elmer Jackson. She was a member of 21st

and Richard Jackson of North Carolina; four daughters, Edith Kilburn, Joyce
Dixon, Loretta Wilson and Debbie Nelson, all of Ashland; a sister, Tellie

Sparta High School in Sparta, New Jersey. Mrs. Kish was preceded in death
by her husband, John Albert Kish. Survivors include two daughters, Valerie

Price Lyons. He was a conductor, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and
a member of the United Trainsmen Association & Union. Surviving are
his wife, Henrietta Osborne Lyons; a daughter, Dianna L. Kuhnle of Louisville;
two brothers, Raymond Lyons and Roger Lyons, both of Paintsville; and two
grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Marshall Steen
Funeral Home by Dr. Ralph Roth. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Lyons, 84, of Hope Mills, N.C., formerly of Louisa, died Tuesday Sep.5
2000 in North Carolina. Mr. Lyons was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Flat Gap,
a son of the late Ossie H. and Esta Dial Lyons. A son, Ronald Lyons, died
in 1959. He was a retired employee of the state highway department and
farmer. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy and a member of Jake
Rice Masonic Lodge. Surviving are three sons, Douglas W. Lyons of Autryville,
N.C., Garland Lyons of Houston, Texas, and Dana Lyons of Louisville; a
daughter, Diana Spillman of Louisville; a brother, Lowell Lyons of Winter
Park, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral will
be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heston Funeral Home in Louisa by the Rev.

from William Bailey Company and was a member of Hillside Church of God.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Ann McKenzie; and

Center in Louisa. Mr. Mollett was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Johnson County,
a son of the late Russell and Emma Cox Mollett. He was a former coal miner
and an Army veteran. Surviving are a stepson, Tom Meade of Blaine; two
brothers, Roy Mollett and Charlie Mollett, both of Springfield, Ohio; and
