A Search For Our Ancestors
My wife and I recently made a trip to McMinville, Warren County, TN and on to Elizabethton, Carter County, TN. Along the way we saw some of the most beautiful country we had found anywhere. With a digital camera in hand, we photographed pictures of places where our ancestors surely must have roamed. Hope you recognize some of them. BEST VIEWED ON FULL SCREEN.

This is the Rocky River both above and below. The Rocky River Cemetery is located about a mile Northwest of here. Now you can see by looking deep in the water below where it got it's name Rocky River.
You are looking at the sign Van Buren County which is across the Rocky River. On this side is Warren County and across the bridge is Van Buren County where Elijah settled, raised his family and finally died there. After having lunch with Layde Jane Hunter and a good visit,we travelled on to Pigeon Forge that afternoon. You have to eat at the Applebarn sometime in your life. Home cooking at it's best. Red-eye gravy the next morning for breakfast.
