This was confirmed by reading the microfilm.8 He was Indictment for trespass, assault and battery. Sep 1850, he was attached to Eli M. Ayers precinct for road work, etc. Sep 1852, he was appointed as a commissioner to view and make a recommendation for a road in McFarlan. Nov 1852, Judgement obtained against Enoch for debt, $21.91, by Fifi Grannell and Co. Nov 1853, Judgement for debt of $63.55 against him by Johnston Sweaney & Co., also on the same date, judgement granted for debt of $36.40 against James (brother) & Enoch by Johnston Sweaney & Co. Mar 1855, Attachment to property ordered for debt. Apr 1855, Summons issued for Enoch to appear in Court on debt charges. May 1855, attachment is awarded for debt. July 1855, Court case continued. Jul 1855, Enoch sells 50 acres on McFarlan Run to J.B. Blair, trustee. Aug 1855, Case dismissed. Oct 1857, he sells 50 acres in McFarland to A.F. James. Mar 1858, Enoch helps post bond for Adam Stanley who was charged with a felony (attempting to kill Isaac Trader), who later was found not guilty of the said charge on May 1858. May 1858, Enoch was appointed "surveyor" of road, precinct No. 96 in the place of Adam Stanley on 7 Mar 1848 at Ritchie Co., WV.9 He and Eliza F. Jenkins.81 She and David Deem appeared on the census of 1860 at Ritchie Co., WV; Can't determine from the census if Mary, Jacob, and Nancy, should be listed with the name of Deem or Jenkins.82
David Deem was born circa 1829 at Ritchie Co., WV.83,84,85 Lowther's Hist. of Ritchie states on page 223, 'David Deem went West in his early manhood.' Can't trace after 1860 Ritchie Co. census. David mustered in the service in Co. E, 11 WV Infantry on 14 Aug 1862, as a Captain. This company E came largely from Wirt Co. WV. Wounded in Action, 9-3-1863 on West Fork in a skirmish with guerrillas - received a minie ball in the joint of the big toe on the right foot causing severe damage. It became swollen & inflamed - fragments were removed before the swelling subsided- recovered; Honorably Discharged, 6-1-1865.86

This orignial place burned down after Samuel Sr. died and was rebuilt by a few of the children. Rodgers, born Nov 1846 in MA, is listed as a boarder living with the Jenkins family in 1880.128
