This photo shows a school group in Anson County, NC about 1898. The only identified person in the group is Beth Eve "Bessie" Carpenter who was born 1888. Her family was living in Lanesboro Township of Anson County in 1900, so it is assumed that the photo is of a group of students from Lanesboro. "Bessie" Carpenter is in the center of the 2nd row from the front, in the pinstriped dress behind the girl with the pinafore on who is on the front row. 

Bessie married Clarence H. "Tank" Martin on Jun 28, 1908 in Polkton, NC. Bessie Carpenter was born Nov 10, 1888 in Anson Co., NC and died Mar 20, 1963 in Winter Park, FL, the daughter of John and Hettie Carpenter. Clarence H. Martin was born Sep 22, 1888 in Anson Co., NC and died Jan 9, 1958 in Winter Park, FL, son of Samuel P. Martin and Mary Ann Carpenter Martin. Bessie and Clarence are buried at Monroe City (Suncrest) Cemetery, Union Co., NC. Also see other photo Bessie, and photo of Clarence Martin's brother, Earie Sanford Martin.
