Nealy M. Hubbard Land Survey, Anson County, NC . click on photo for larger view . . I found this plat in some old papers in an old house that I purchased about 30 years ago. It is a plat of the Nealy M. Hubbard land division. It also includes the old roads and the location of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, south of Peachland. The creeks are Brown Creek, at top of the page, and Leak's Creek/Leak's Creek at the right side of the page.Nealy M. Hubbard gave a deed to the church in 1848, and then another one was recorded after his death, about the time this plat was drawn. The document is dated 1870.
Additional information:
The land was divided into four areas.
Lot one was deeded to Sheppard Jones, who lived about a tenth mile south. His grandson now owns it.
Lot two was deeded to Rev. Isaac W. Martin of Polkton... Rev Martin preached at Mineral Springs for a while, and deeded the Church land to access the 'new' road that was built a couple years after this survey... His ggreat grandchildren now own it...
Lot three was deeded to Edgar Coy Mills who built a house a couple hundred yards from the Church... and built the 'new' road to his house which is now a state road. His son now owns it...
Lot four was deeded to Ed Wright of Charlotte... was sold to a timber company.
Some of the land was exchanged between Mills and Wright soon after the survey.
