Earie Sanford Martin was born Aug 14, 1879 in Anson Co., NC, the son of Samuel P. Martin and Mary Ann Carpenter Martin. They were listed on the 1880 census of Ansonville, Anson Co., NC. Earie was listed on the 1900 census of Wadesboro, Anson Co., NC. He was married July 8, 1905 to Mary May Shurtleff of Arkansas and they were listed on the 1910 census in Lasalle Parish, Louisiana (he was listed as a Railroad Engineer) and on the 1920 census in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana (he was a Locomotive Engineer). They had two children, Samuel Aaron Martin, b. Sept. 7, 1910, Jena, LA, d. June 23, 1947, Annapolis, MD., & Mary Eloise Martin. May was listed as divorced on the 1930 census and she and their children were listed in Minden, Webster Parish, Louisiana. Earie died in July, 1958. Mary May d. Jan. 3, 1958.
