Martha Pope (b. July 4, 1835-d. Nov. 23, 1923) was the daughter of William and Martha Pope. She married John H. Carpenter. They were the parents of Mary Ann Carpenter who married Samuel P. Martin. She is buried at Mount Vernon Church Cemetery, Anson County, NC. This photo is from her great granddaughter, Ruth Martin Ratcliffe.
