The Eastern portion of Mecklenburg Co., NC was separated to form part of Union Co, NC in 1842.

The other half of Union County was formed from the Western portion of Anson County.

This book included two lists of the Militia of Mecklenburg Co, NC.

They are identified below as the 1812 list and the 1814 list for easier identification.

1812 List: Muster Roll of the Infantry detached from the Militia of North Carolina, in Pursuance of a requisition of the President of the United States in virtue of an Act of Congress of the 10th of April, 1812. Seventh Regiment, detached from 7^th and 11^th Brigades, included the 7^th Company detached from the 1^st Mecklenburg Regiment; and the 8^th and 9^th Companies, detached from the 2^nd Mecklenburg Regiment.

1814 List: Muster Roll of the detached Militia, organized in August 1814. Sixth Regiment included Mecklenburg County, which was divided into the 1^st and 2^nd Regiments.
