Antique cabinet card photograph, from about 1898 or so. Photographer was Blunt from Danville, Virginia. Family is identified on the back as: Lower front row: left) N E Kimbrough, right) M H Kimbrough. Top left) Clara Daniel McKenna, Pauline Kimbrough Fleming, Florence Daniel Chewning. The females are all wearing very PUFFY SLEEVED dresses that appear to be of the same fabric. There is also a cute dog in the photo!

Using census records I have been able to determine that the M H Kimbrough was Melbourne Howard Kimbrough who was born about 1848 in or near Richmond, Virginia, son of Paul C. C. Kimbrough and Mary Ann M. Bullington. He was found in either Richmond or Henrico County on each census between 1850 and 1880. By 1900, he was married and living in Fork Union, Fluvanna County, Virginia. I have not been able to locate either he or his wife N.E. after 1900, but their daughter Pauline and the two Daniel girls (who lived with him in 1900 and were listed as nieces), were in Fluvanna County or Buckingham County in 1910. I have not found any record of this family living in Danville, VA, so maybe they were visiting relatives or just passing through. Measures 4.25" x 6.5".
