This is a photograph Darrell Hinson took of Herman Starnes at the dedication of the monument there in Monroe, NC in 2007. He was so happy to see his life's work come to fruition. He passed away the next year (2008). Arlee McCoy

Herman Starnes should receive the credit for locating, researching, getting the dates correct, and getting the members of STA to dedicate the monument that is pictured in the photographs.  Herman was co-author of the Starnes family book, Of Them That Left a Name Behind. Herman was very generous in sharing his genealogy work.  He will be greatly missed.  Herman Starnes (1919-2008).

At one time there was a video clip of the dedication of the monument provided by Darrell Hinson, but the link is no longer working.
