Carrie Mae Griffin was born July 28, 1905. She was the sixth child born to Jonah and Lougenia Griffin of Union County, N.C.  She married Chauncey Depew Hinson on March 19, 1924 in Taxahaw, SC. They raised four children, three boys and one girl.

Carrie and her husband lived during a very exciting period of our country’s history. They went from riding in a horse drawn buggy to seeing men placed on the moon. They had only been married four years when the great depression hit. This was a period of trying times for them as well as most other citizens of our country.
