Monroe Township, Union County, North Carolina
Medlin-Dry Cemetery
Previously located at Teledyne Allvac-relocated
to Monroe City Cemetery
When Teledyne Allvac required
additional space for their operation they
purchased lots at Monroe City Cemetery and had the graves moved there
on Aug 7, 1978. At that time there were 11 graves but only two
headstones
had survived the ravages of time and vandalism, those of D.B. Medlin and
his granddaughter, Rachel
Elizabeth Dry.
These
pictures are the only two stones that survived the move from the original cemetery
to Monroe City cemetery. They are both lying flat and were difficult to
photograph (per AMP).
