New Nance Cemetery

New Salem Township, Union County, North Carolina

Located on Meggs Rd. on property that once contained St. Timothy's, a mission church of the Episcopal Diocese overseen by St. Paul's Episcopal of Monroe, NC.  The graveyard was left to the Episcopal Diocese per D. Nance's will (March 1933, Union County Will Book 5, page ?) as shared by Gloria Nance Smith.  It is unclear if the Episcopal Diocese still owns this property.

This listing is taken from a mix of sources:

(1) "A Supplement to Union County Cemeteries" compiled by members of the Carolinas Genealogical Society and Confederate Sons Alliance (p. 45, published by Now & Then, date unknown, all listed here were found in this publication except Dolly Nance, Sally Spears, Stewart infant but they do reference "3 other graves" which could be these).

(2) "A History and Genealogy of the Nances" by D. Nance (published 1930, in notes section his page number references will be written followed by his initials "DN", i.e., p. 35-DN).

(3) Rick Philemon's visit in 2009 or 2010.
