-Mrs. Emeraline Given of Waxhaw, widow of the late David GIVEN, died at her home last Wednesday morning. About two years ago, Mrs. GIVEN got a severe fall and was badly crippled. Since that time she has been very feeble, being confined to her room most of the time. She was 84 years old and is survived by one daughter, Miss Lou GIVEN, and one sister, Mrs. M. E. GORDON. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and was a good christian woman, enjoying the high esteem and unbounded confidence of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.

-Mr. KIKER, Oldest Man in County, Served on Second Jury.
'Squire C. N. SIMPSON, who keeps up with local history, says that Mr. Charles KIKER is the only living man who served on the second jury in this county, July, 1843, term. Mr. KIKER lives two miles west of Waxhaw ad will be one hundred years old next January. His age is well authenticated. He was too old to serve as a senior reserve in the Civil war and they took men up to fifty years old in the ranks of senior reserves. Mr. KIKER'S father lived to be one hundred and seven years old. His name was George KIKER and moved from this county to Georgia when he was ninety-eight years old, along with one of his sons, and lived nine years after he left this county. He died of poison. George KIKER was a soldier in the American army in the Revolutionary war.
