These are just miscellaneous tidbits I found while browsing through court records. Far from complete, but hopefully someone will find them useful!

Power of Attorney from William A. McCAIN of the County of Attala & State of Mississippi to L. R. BELK exhibited before the Court approved and ordered to be recorded and registered dated 3rd July 1854.

Power of Attorney from Samuel Mote & wife Eliza, Jonah Bivens, William M. Bivens & Jonah Bivens, Guardian of D. B. Bivens, a minor son of William J. Bivens, all heirs of Rachael Bivens, to William S. Bivens, all of Henry County, Georgia exhibited before the Court approved and ordered to be recorded as requested.

Page ??? – Power of Attorney from Thomas D. MOORE & Margaret MOORE to Asa M. HELMS dated 7th July 1856, Court of Pleas & Quarters Session July Term 1856 Personally appeared in opencourt Tho. D. MOORE & Margaret his wife the ????? in the foregoing Power of Attorney from them to Asa M. HELMS, and acknowledged the execution thereof and it appearing to the court that the said Margaret MOORE is a married woman is thereupon ordered by the court that James E. IRBY Esquire a member of said Court be appointed to take ?????????????? of the Court the private examination of the said Margaret MOORE as to her free and voluntary execution of the same…..

 

Union County, NC Minutes of County Court, Jan. Term, 1857

p.381 – Power of attorney from Henry J. WEST, William R. WEST & Stephen B. WEST of the County of Fayett Alabama to Jesse WEST of Tuscaloosa County Alabama dated 9th October 1856 exhibited in open Court approved and ordered to be recorded & Registered.

 

Union County, NC Minutes of County Court, Jan. Term, 1857

p.381 – Ordered by the Court that an Orphan Girl named Serena CUTHBERTSON now of the age of Eleven years be bound unto Saml. H. FOARD, and is to learn her the art & mystery of seamtry to read & write & to cipher to the single Rule of three & give her one bed and to and to ?????? furniture ?? twenty five dollars in money when of age.

 

Page #??? – Power of Attorney from Hugh W. McCAIN of the State of Tennessee Maury County to A. M. McCAIN of union County, NC dated 23 Jan. 1856 exhibited in Open Court approved and ordered to be Recorded & Registered.

 

Union County, NC Minutes of County Court, July Term 1859, page 35.

A certain Power of Attorney dated 10th November, 1856 from Robert Lee WALKER & wife Martha L. WALKER, and James C. REA of the State of Texas to Robert R. REA of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, being produced and exhibited in open court by the said Robert R. REA, and appearing to the satisfaction of the Court from the Certificate thereto annexed that the said Power of Attorney was duly acknowledged by the said Robert Lee WALKER, James C. REA, according to the act of Assembly; that the private examination of the said Martha L. WALKER was properly taken, and that acknowledged, on such examination, that she had executed the said deed freely and of her own will and accord, without any force, fear or undue influence of her said husband or any other person, is therefore ordered, that the said power of attorney, with the certificates thereto annexed be registered.

 

Union County, NC Minutes of County Court, Oct. Term, 1859

Page 60 – A Power of Attorney from John & Mary PRESSON of the State of Tennessee to Lemuel PRESSON of the County of Union and State of North Carolina, dated the 6th day of June 1859 – is exhibited in open Court by the said Lemuel PRESSON – and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the said Power of attorney had been duly proven & certified in conformity with the laws of this State – It is therefore ordered by the Court that the same with the certificates thereto annexed together with the record of these proceedings be Registered.

 

Union County, NC Minutes of County Court, July Term, 1866

Page 462 – A certain Power of Attorney from D. W. HODGE & Selenah A. HODGE (formerly Selenah A. THREADGILL) and John SAUNDERS and Lucy C. SAUNDERS (formerly Lucy C. THREADGILL) of the State of Alabama and County of Pickens, made to George A. WINCHESTER of the County of Union and State of North Carolina bearing the date the 7th of June 1866 was exhibited in Open Court by George A. WINCHESTER and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the execution of the same had been proven in Conformity to the laws of this State. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the power of attorney together with the accompanying Certificates be recorded and registered.
