Franklin Street – 1913

Monroe, Union County, North Carolina

Domed building in the background is the Jackson Club Building, aka the Bank of Union Building, which is at the corner of E. Franklin and N. Hayne Streets.  It was constructed circa 1905-1906 by J. R. Shute and Sons. The first floor originally housed the Bank of Union  and J.R. Shute and Sons Grocers, while the 2nd and 3rd floors were occupied by the Jackson Club, a social organization. Postcard postmarked 1913.
