Poland Notes: This is an African-American Church. Tradition
among the members holds that Daniel Wentz was probably the first to be
buried in the cemetery. Some
information about it comes from two newspaper articles: "In 1899 Dr. Austin bought 93 3/4 acres more extending out
to the old Lawyers Road; 2 acres of this he gave to the Rock Hill Colored
Church in 1907." -article about Stewart's Mill from The Monroe Journal,
5-10-1957 "...founded when three miners--Nat Morris, William Shelborne and David Newell--began to hold prayer meetings
in a small mineshaft. Shelborne and Newell,
who were white, and Morris, who was black, were then joined by four
others: Daniel Wentz, Jackson Black, Issac
