Mary Walker Miller's Ancestors
Searching for Mary Walker's ancestors has been a problem lately, one that should be ending soon hopefully. I made an error in assuming her father was Joshua Walker, so have removed that info from my gedcom. Information from the book "Maine Probate Abstracts, Volume 2, 1775 - 1800," by John Eldridge Frost, lists the following on page 622:
12/17 Joshua Walker, of Arundel. Will (12/10). LT (12/10). F19500 Joshua Walker, being in a low state of health, devises, 7 Dec 1767, after lawful debts are pd: to his w 1/3 of the moveables with use of 1/3 of the real est, for life: to his dau Downing, 10/; to his s Joshua, 20/; to his dau Hannah Whitten, L3/10/0; to his dau Mary Miller, 40/; to his son Samuel Walker 40/; to his s. Joseph Walker, 40/; to his dau Ann Walker, 40/; his s Benjamin is incapable of self-support because of an original defect in his understanding, so Joshua commits him to the care of John, s of Joshua, Jr, & for this purposegives to John the balance of his estate; const Jeremiah Miller & Benjamin Downing, yeomen, & Benjamin Durrell of Arundel, Gent, gdns of s Benjamin's support in life and decent burial afterward; appts s John sole exor of will. Wits: Jane Little, Thomas Perkins LT gr York, 11 April 1768 to Jeremiah Miller, Benjamin Downing & Benjamin Durrell, with t&p inv exh at or bef 11 July next, & a p&t acct.
This indicated to me that Joshua's daughter Mary was Jeremiah Miller Jr.'s wife. However, Mary's husband was actually Jeremiah's brother Andrew, according to research done by North Carolina resident Richard Smyth. He investigated Kenebunkport town and church records, probate files, and also researched published books by Charles Bradbury, "History of Kennebunkport," and Walter Goodwin Davis, "Ancestry of Sarah Miller." Two of John Walker and Mary Bickford's sons, Joshua and Gideon, both had daughters named Mary. That explains my confusion, hopefully.
Anyone who has proof of Jeremiah Miller Jr.'s wife Mary Walker's lineage, please eamil me!
