The Cavenaugh Family of Eastern North Carolina, 1790-1930: Census
The Cavenaugh Family of Eastern North Carolina, 1790-1930
I have tried to locate all of the descendants in each available decennial census schedule, although there are many times when families were not enumerated, and I will include here relevant information from the various schedules. Most people are probably familiar with the population schedule which provides the most genealogically important information such as name, age, occupation, and birthplace, but I find the agricultural schedule which gives information on a farmer's crops and livestock to be the most interesting. These records are only available from 1850 to 1880, and I believe the later schedules were unfortunately destroyed or thrown away. There is also a little information available on the Cavenaughs from the mortality census schedules (1850-1880) and from the slave schedules (1850 and 1860).
