The Cavenaugh Family of Eastern North Carolina, 1790-1930: Obituaries and Death Notices
The Cavenaugh Family of Eastern North Carolina, 1790-1930
I have found obituaries and death notices for over 700 Cavenaugh descendants, dating from 1911 to the present. I also have two earlier Cavenaugh obituaries, one for Abram D. Cavenaugh from 1877 and one for Mary Lovick Cavenaugh from 1901, but they are from the Craven County Cavenaugh line which is not descended from Silvester although they are almost certainly related. The majority of the obituaries come from the Wilmington Morning Star (now the Star-News), the Kinston Daily Free Press, (now just the Free Press), the Duplin Times (at one time the Duplin Times-Progress Sentinel), and the Wallace Enterprise. I have tried to preserve any original spellings and typos, although there may be a few mistakes on my part. I also have scanned images of most of these, and if you would like a copy of an obituary, just e-mail me.

To navigate the obituaries, use the menu to the left to select a decade. There are drop-down menus on each page from which you can select whose obituary you wish to view. I have divided the decades from the 1940s on into smaller sections to reduce loading time and to make it easier to update. I plan to include an index of all individuals, organized by surname/maiden name, sometime in the future.

(Note: All the obituaries are currently online, but I will still need to make some minor changes and additions in the next few weeks. I will also eventually double-check the obituaries.)
