"Funeral Services For J. E. Cavenaugh

Jacob E. Cavenaugh, 86, died at the home of his son, Raeford Cavenaugh of Wallase [sic], Rt. 2, Monday morning. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the North East Baptist Church with the Rev. Vance Rich and the Rev. A. Carter in charge. Burial followed in the family cemetery. Mr. Cavenaugh is survived by three sons, J. A., H. A., and R. H. Cavenaugh; one daughter, Mrs. A. F. Bradshow [sic] all of Wallace Rt. 2; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren."

"Zennie Levi Brown

Zennie Levi Brown, 49, of Seagate died yesterday at James Walker Memorial hispital [sic] following a short illness.
He is survived by his widow; four sons Leslie Brown, Kenneth Brown, Howard Brown and Zennie E. Brown all of Wilmington; two daughters Miss Dorothy Brown and Mrs. Robert Benson both of Wilmington and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Greer of Wilmington.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Andrews mortuary will be announced later.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the chapel of Andrews Mortuary. The Rev. P. H. McCarn will officiate. Interment will follow in Seagate cemetery.
Pallbearers will be L. J. Willettes, J. J. Willettes, Jimmy Flowers, Wilbur McGloughlin, Earl Pierce and David Costin."

"Onsley B. Cottle Dies at His Home Sunday Morning

Onley [sic] B. Cottle, 61, died early Sunday morning at his home, Beulaville Route 1.
Funeral services are being held today at 2:03 [sic] p. m. from the residence. The Rev. Henry Jones of Richlands will conduct the rites. Burial will follow in Cavenaugh Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Callie Sanders Cottle, of the home; three sons Elbert, Earl and Ellis; two daughters, Mrs. Lena Mae Heath and Mrs. Velma Lanier; a brother, Hoppie Cottle of Richlands; two sisters, Mrs. J. A. Lanier of Wilmington and Mrs. Lula Albertson of Wallace Route 1; and 12 grandchildren."

Stacy Lee Lanier, 45, of Chinquapin, died Saturday morning at 5:30 o'clock at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. A. D. Wood, assisted by the Rev. N. E. Gresham. Burial will be in Chinquapin Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, the former Norma Lee Cavenaugh; one daughter, Dorothy, two sons, Stacey, Jr., and Roy Allen Lanier; his mother, Mrs. Ada Lanier; two brothers, Archie of Chinquapin and Richard of Durham; two sister [sic], Mrs. Myrtle Kennedy of Beulaville and Mrs. Sina Jenkins of Roanoke Rapids."

Carl L. Stroud, 59, died Wednesday of last week at his home near Watha. Funeral services were held from the graveside at Cavenaugh Cemetery near Wallace at 3 p.m. Friday. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Molva Cavenaugh Stroud; two daughters, Mrs. Woodie Hall of Watha, Mrs. Clifton Jones of Swanton, Md.; one brother, R. F. Stroud of Wallace; two sisters, Mrs. S. O. Wood and Mrs. J. B. Cavenaugh of Wallace; and three grandchildren."

"M. J. Cavenaugh Funeral In Wallace

M. J. (Jud) Cavenaugh, Wallace Chevrolet dealer, died Thursday afternoon at James Walker Hospital following an illness of several weeks. He was 67 years old and a former member of the town board in Wallace. Funeral services were held from the home in Wallace on Saturday morning at 10:30. Interment followed in Rockfish Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Martha Britt Cavenaugh; one daughter, Mrs. Troy Jones, Carrboro; two sons, L. B., and R. S. Cavenaugh of Wallace; and five grandchildren."

"Rev. M. H. Alexander

Fayetteville, Feb. 27 - The Rev. M. H. Alexander, 75-year-old retired Pentecostal Holiness minister, died Monday afternoon in Hope Mills.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at Mt. Carmel Holiness church. The Rev. S. A. Fann and the Rev. Jerome Hodges will officiate. Interment will be in Kinston.
He is survived by his wife; one son, T. F. Alexander, Fayetteville."

Leland, April 15 -- Funeral services for Charles Daniel Morse, of Armour, 51, will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon from Elah Baptist church, Leland, with the Rev. W. G. Phelps officiating. Interment will be in Nelson family cemetery.
Mr. Morse, Seaboard Airline railroad section foreman for 31 years, died in Bullucks hospital in Wilmington Friday afternoon.
Mr. Morse is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Savage Morse; one son, Charles Daniel Morse, Jr., with the Army in Korea; one daughter, Miss Ruth Morse, Armour; his step-mother, Mrs. Mary Morse; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Russ, Mrs. Ruby White, Wilmington, Mrs. Pearl Leonard, Morehead City; and one brother, J. H. Morse, Wilmington."

Watha, June 21 -- Mrs. Nora Anderson Mills of Watha died in James Walker Memorial Hospital, Wilmington, Thursday after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Watha Methodist Church at 3 p. m. Saturday by the Rev. R. E. Walston, assisted by the Rev. C. D. Barcliff and the Rev. A. C. Wheeler. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Ned L. Mills; one daughter, Mrs. Leon F. Rooks of Watha; eight sons, Ned L. Jr., of Washington, D. C., Pvt. Gene A. of Fort Hood, Texas, Julian C. of Wilmington, Jerry L., Robert G., Milton A., Harry N. and Kinneth W., all of the home; two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Bullard of Savannah, Ga., and Mrs. R. F. Stroud of Wallace; two brothers, Arthur and Hulon Anderson of Watha; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild."

"Funeral For Mrs. Katie Cavenaugh Is Held Yesterday

Mrs. Katie Teachey Cavenaugh, age 76, widow of the late John William Cavenaugh died Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. Herder Cavenaugh near Wallace after an illness of three weeks.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p. m. at the graveside in the Cavenaugh Family Cemetery near the home.
She is survived by four daughters Mrs. Daisy Sholar, Mrs. Melvis Stroud, Mrs. Florence Cavenaugh and Mrs. Bessie Cavenaugh all of Wallace. Four sons, Daniel, Joe, John Cavenaugh all of Wallace and Mike Cavenaugh of Turkey and a number of grandchildren. One brother, Danny Teachey of Rose Hill, two sisters Mrs. Earnie Carter and Mrs. Julia Hanchey both of Wallace."

Watha, June 14 -- Funeral Services for Arthur Anderson, 64, chairman of the Pender County Board of Elections who died Thursday in Watha, were held at 3 p. m. Saturday at Watha Methodist Church with the Rev. Carlton F. Hirschi officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Nephews served as active pallbearers.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, one son, three daughters, one brother and two sisters."

"Funeral Rites For George W. Sholar Will Be Tomorrow

George W. Sholar age 64 years died at his home, in Wallace Route 4, Sunday night suddenly. Funeral services will be held from his residence at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday in charge of Rev. K. D. Brown of Burgaw. Burial will follow in Mobley Cemetery near the home.
His wife, Clara Sholar of the home, and four brothers, Andrew, McIver, Matthew and Perry all of Wallace, one sister, Mrs. Rodolph James of Wallace. Several Neices [sic] and nephews survive."

"Joseph Dewey White

Joseph Dewey White, age 53 died suddenly early Wednesday morning at his home in Wallace.
Funeral services were held from the North East Free Will Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock by Rev. A. H. Carter and Dr. Eugene Poston. Burial was in the Cavanaugh Family Cemetery near the Church. The body lay in state at the Church for one hour prior to funeral service.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Lou Cavenaugh, one son, Marion H. White of the home, two daughters, Mrs. J. E. King of Fayetteville and Betty Jane White of Wilmington, one grand child. Three sisters, Mrs. R. T. Register of Wallace, Mrs. Annie Merritt of Wilmington and Mrs. A. C. Larabee of California, one brother, Matthew White of Vernon, Texas."

Shadrick Kornegay

"Shad Kornegay

Shad Kornegay, 66, of the Albertson community of Duplin County died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon. Mr. Kornegay who had been in ill health for sometime had walked out to an old tobacco barn near his home, and when he failed to return, members of his family went in search and found him dead.
Funeral services were held in the Snow Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Duplin County at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Lloyd Vernon in charge, assisted by Rev. Boyce Wallace. Burial took place in the church cemetery.
Surviving relatives include his widow, the former Ethel Kilpatrick of Duplin County, one son, J. D. Kornegay of Kenansville, one daughter, Mrs. Jack E. Grady of the community, one brother, Frank Kornegay of Albertson; five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kornegay of Kinston, Mrs. Clifton Sheppard of Calypso, Mrs. Howard Kennedy of Warsaw, Mrs. Roland Thomas of Pink Hill Rt. 2 and Mrs. Henry Tyndall of Albertson, Rt. 1."

Joseph G. Wallace died at his home on Route 3, Rose Hill, late Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were held at his home at 4 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Van Murrell officiating. Burial was in a Wallace cemetery. Surviving are a son, Adrian Wallace of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Cottle of Rose Hill and Mrs. William N. Rouse of the home."

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Tillman Register of Mullins, S. C., and Mrs. Mary Gilliam, Lemon Grove, Cal.; four sons, Willie of Leland, Lester and Edgar of Wilmington and Albert of Detroit, Mich., and one sister, Mrs. Harriett Jarrell of Leland."

Mr. W. D. Kilpatrick, age 83, died in James Walker Hospital at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4th after a lingering illness followed by a stroke on Monday night.
Surviving are two sons, W. C. and David J. Kilpatrick, five daughters, Mrs. T. A. Jernigan, Mt. Olive Mrs. Shad Kornegay, Albertson, Mrs. L. A. Brock, Rose Hill, Mrs. Preston Bostic, Magnolia, one brother, Amos Kilpatrick of Rose Hill, one half brother, John B. Kilpatrick of Teacheys, N.C., sixteen grand children and a host of neices [sic] and mephews [sic]. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Vann Murrell at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 at Dobson Chapel Baptist church. The body will lie in state at the church two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the family cemetery."

Greenville, Oct. 31--Mrs. Hanna Mae Bell Manning, 44, died in Lenoir County Memorial Hospital, Kinston, at 3:30 p.m. Friday after suffering a stroke a few hours earlier. She was born in Lenoir County, daughter of the late Bessie Herring and Sam Carlyle. In 1937 she was married to Eugene Manning. She was a member of the Dallas Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband, of LaGrange, are one daughter, Naomi Manning of the home; one son, Norman Manning of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hardison and Mrs. Louise Skinner, both of Kinston, Mrs. Rosa Vension of Goldsboro, and Mrs. Annie Grimes of Trenton; five half-sisters, Mrs. Blanche Smith, Mrs. Elizabeth Daniels and Mrs. Ava Best, all of Goldsboro, Mrs. Suzan Sowers of Snow Hill, and Mrs. Lula Martin of Jacksonville; and one brother, Samuel Carlyle, with the U. S. Marines in Japan. Funeral arrangements will be announced."

Dave Hatch Lanier, 73, died at his home Wednesday morning in the Cypress Creek community near Beulaville after several months of declining health. Funeral services were held from the Lanier's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church near the home at 3:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon conducted by the Rev. P. T. Ellis, pastor, assisted by the Rev. J. D. Vernelson.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ludie A. Lanier; four sons, Eli of Sneads Ferry, Winfred and Cicero of Beulaville, and Leonard of Chinquapin; four daughters, Mrs. Roe Maready, Mrs. Woodrow Batts and Mrs. Leslie Lanier , all of Chinquapin and Mrs. Troy Dail of Newport News, Va.; four brothers, Council and Roe Lanier of Chinquapin, Cyrus of Warsaw and Lark of Rose Hill; one sister, Mrs. J. H. Dail of Chinquapin. Also a large number of nephews, nieces and grandchildren."

Mrs. Bessie Batts, 55, died Tuesday, November 25 at midnight. Funeral services were held at Northeast Baptist Church Friday at 2:30 p.m. and burial was in the Vavanaugh [sic] Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Aubrey Carter, assisted by the Rev. I. D. Dickens and the Rev. Vann Rich. Surviving are her husband, J. W. Batts; two sons, Marion of Connecticutt [sic] and Richard Batts of Richmond, Va.; and a sister, Mrs. F. L. English; two brothers, Roland of Wallace, Route 2, and Willie Cavanaugh of New Bern."
