Mrs. Bessie Nea Landen, 61, died Tuesday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. P. W. Williamson, Market Street Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Coble Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Al L. McGee, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, of which she was a member will officiate. Burial will be in the Chinquapin Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. D. W. Smith of Wilmington; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers will be nephews.
Honorary pall bearers will be Ronald Lane, Dr. E. T. Marshburn Jr., Dr. R. B. Rodman, A. L. Williams and George Tienken."

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. David Faircloth of Clinton and Mrs. B. B. Barnett of Kinston; six sons, Prentice of Rosehill, Herman of Richlands and Herbert, Thurman, Melvin and George Whaley of Warsaw; one brother, Enoch Carter of Bowden, 35 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren."

Wallace - Funeral services for James Allen Lanier, 45, who died in Kinston Sunday, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at his home, Rt. 2, Beaulaville, by the Rev. P. T. Ellis. Burial will be in the Lanier Family Cemetery.

Wallace - Funeral services for Robert J. Padgett, 84, a retired farmer of Rt. 4 here, who died Saturday at Duplin General Hospital, will be at the graveside of the Towell [sic] Family Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
The Rev. K. D. Brown will officiate.
Surviving are his wife, the former Emma Rogers; four daughters, Mrs. Laura Garvey and Lucille Henderson, both of Rt. 4 here, Mrs. Nellie Brown of Rt. 1, Maplefield, and Mrs. Virginia Clemmons of Richmond, Va.; a son, Charles Padgett of Wilmington; a sister, Mrs. Martha Brown and a brother, Jerry Padgett, both of Rt. 4 here; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren."

Mrs. Minnie C. English, 78 wife of F. L. English of Walalce [sic] died Tuesday morning in James Walker Memorial Hospital at Wilmington after a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted at the North East Free Will Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 3:30 O'clock by Rev. J. E. Andrews, Vance Rich, Aubrey Carter and Nathan Hanchey. Burial followed in the Cavenaugh Family Cemetery near the home.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George Sissel of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Robert R. Cavenaugh of Wallace, Four sons, J. B. English of Wilmington, F. D. English of Wallace, Steven and Wayters English both of Warsaw, Eighteen grand children, seventeen great grand children. Two brothers R. O. Cavenaugh of Wallace and W. H. Cavenaugh of New Bern."

Chinquapin - Mrs. Gertrude Lanier, 64, of Lyman, died Saturday morning at her home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethel Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Reid Erwin. Interment will be in the Lanier family cemetery, near the home.
Survivors include her husband, D. M. Lanier, four daughters, Mrs. K. C. Lanier and Mrs. Dolly Pierce of Jacksonville, N. C. Mrs. Cliff Russ of Wilmington and Mrs. Hugh Hunter of Lyman. A son, O. Q. Lanier of Lyman, four sisters, Mrs. Cecil Brown of Wallace; Mrs. Ellis Hatcher, Mrs. Arthur Sloane and Mrs. Bessie Bradham, all of Chinquapin; Five brothers, Zeb Lanier of Baltimore, Md., John Edward Lanier, of Burgaw, Charlie Lanier, of Harrells, Jimmy Lanier of Beulaville and Jody Lanier of Chinquapin. Ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive."

Wallace -- Funeral services for Linwood Straughn, 81, of Beulaville, who died Wednesday at Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown after an illness of several months, will be conducted today at 3 p.m. from the graveside at Onslow Memorial Park at Jacksonville, N. C.
The Rev. Danny Jenkins of the Free Will Baptist Church in Snead's Ferry will be in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Effie Straughn of Beulaville; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Shillingburg of Richlands, Mrs. Ruth Hamborski of Connellsville, Penna., Mrs. Grace Yuhas of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Doris Padgett of Rt. 1, Maple Hill, N. C., and Mrs. Helen Carroll of Canton, Ohio; three sons, Jeff of Hollywood, Fla., Charlie of Beulaville, and Guss of Great Lakes, Ill.; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren."

Burgaw - Mrs. Lama Batts Lanier, 61, of Burgaw, died in Pender Memorial Hospital Thursday afternoon following a short illness.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth M. Lanier, and one daughter, Mrs. Olga L. Roupe, both of Burgaw; one brother, Ben C. Batts of Chinquapin; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Futrelle, Mrs. Frankie Register and Mrs. Lucile Sanderson, all of Chinquapin, Mrs. Ruby Atkinson of Wallace and Mrs. Ruth Butler of Knoxville, Tenn., and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p. m. at Herrings Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. K. D. Brown officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 1 o'clock. Burial will be in the Batts family cemetery near Chinquapin."

Watha - Funeral services for Isaac Teachey, 79, of Watha, will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. A. C. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Watha Methodist Church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Freewill Baptist Church for one hour prior to services.
Mr. Teachey, who died at his home Monday after a long illness, was a retired farmer and a native of Duplin County. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Teachey is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catharine Cavanaugh Teachey of the home; one daughter, Mrs. G. R. Padgett of Watha; three sons, Elbert Teachey of Watha, Jake Hugh Teachey and Aubrey Teachey, both Jacksonville, Fla.; sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Olive Pate, James Andrews, Donald Padgett, Larry Padgett, W. C. White and Cyrus Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Beckton, John Murray, Graham Carr, M. B. Daniels, Roscoe Brice, Corbett Holder and Herbert Garriss."

Watha -- Ned L. Mills, 63, of Watha died Sunday morning of a heart attack while attending church services.
Mills, a retired mail carrier was a life-long native of Pender County and a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Watha Methodist Church and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. C. Franklin Grill will officiate, assisted by Rev. Henry Chestnut and Rev. A. C. Wheeler.
He is survived by his widow, the former Daisy Webb; seven sons, Gene of Raleigh, Julian of Willard, Robert of Jacksonville, Fla., Milton and Kenneth of Wilmington, and Jerry and Harry of the home; three step sons; Robert and James H. Price of Charlotte and Ray Price of the home; one step daughter, Mrs. LYnn Rooks of Watha; four brothers, Marcus Mills of Wallace, Phillip, Abraham and Issac Mills of Willard; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Corbin of Wilmington and Mrs. Matthew Teachy of Wallace and five grandchildren."

Richlands, May 15 -- Thomas F. Sandlin, 77, died in Lenoir Memorial Hospital at Kinston Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services will be held from the Johnson Funeral Homes at 3 p. m. Tuesday. Rev. W. B. Cotton of the Richlands Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Onslow Memorial Park. Survivors include three sons, W. T., Darwin and Gorman, all of Richlands; three daughters, Mrs. R. J. Salmon of Wallace, and Mrs. Harry Thomas and Mrs. R. W. Hiemenz, both of Richlands; two brothers, H. V. and C. R. Sandlin, both of Richlands; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Williams of Beulaville and Mrs. Kelly Cottle of Kinston; 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren."

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Danford Rouse, age 77, beloved widow of the late A. J. Rouse, Sr. of the Charity Community were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 O'clock [sic] at the Charity Methodist Church of which she was a member, with the services conducted by Rev. John M. Roberts, assisted by Richard Loggins. Internment was in Clay Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Rouse died Thursday night in the Grotgen Nursing Home in Wilmington after a prolonged illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John William Danford of Bolivia, N.C.
She is survived by two sons George Rouse of Wallace and A. J. Rouse, Jr. of Hyattsville, Md. Three daughters, Mrs. Aldred R. Robinson of the home, Mrs. Verda Wells of Wallace and Mrs. Vera Wilson of Wilmington; six grand daughters an dtwo [sic] grand sons, one brother, J. D. Danford and one sister, Mrs. Armelia Eichhorn both of Olivia, N.C. [sic] and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Chester Rouse, Jimmie Rouse, David Rackley, Theodore Rouse, Loney Lanier, and Edwin Teachey."

Wallace - Perry Exum Sholer, 65, died Friday night in James Walker Hospital in Wilmington. He was a native of Duplin County and a carpenter by trade.
He is survived by his wife Molly Lewis Sholer, three sons, Bill and Raleigh both of Wallace, and Daniel E. of Jacksonville, Fla., two daughters, Mrs. Bruce Blanton and Mrs. Johnnie C. Rivenbark both of Wallace, two brothers, Matthew J. and McKiver Sholer, both of Route 2, Wallace, one sister, Mrs. Rudolph James of Route 2, Wallace, and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Pentecostal Holiness Church here. Officiating will be the Rev. Samuel Grimes and the Rev. J. Paul Jones, both of Wallace, and the Rev. J. Moses Thomas of Vanceboro. Burial will be in the Cavenaugh Cemetery on Wallace Route 2."

Wallace - Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Ann Cavenaugh Norris, 75, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday from the Northeast Baptist Church near Wallace. The Rev. W. R. Andrews will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Elwood Orr of Wilmington. Burial will be in Cavenaugh Cemetery near the church.
The body will be at the Norman Funeral Home at Wallace until an hour before services.
Mrs. Norris died Thursday night in the Brunswick Nursing Home at Southport.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Horace Roberts of Wilmington; three sons, Willis Norris, of Wilmington, and Kenneth and Wallace Norris, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; two brothers, Walter Cavenaugh of Benson, and Fred Cavenaugh of Wallace; and eight grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Roy Cavenaugh, Charlie Norris, Allen Norris, Horace Norris, Watus English, and Bob Henderson."

B. Wallace, of Juneau, Alaska; four step daughters; Mrs. O. C. Brock, of Kinston, Mrs. J. M. She is survived by three sons, Pearlie W. of Teachey, J. Raymond of Rose Hill and D. Clifton of Portsmouth, Va. Two daughters Mrs. Earlie M. Smith of Wallace and Mrs. Hazel Wells of Teachey. Fourteen grand children. Three sisters Mrs. Lillian Alexander of Rose Hill Mrs. Katie Teachey of Watha and Mrs. Mellie Hanchey of Richmond, Va."

Mrs. Lula Dixon Cavenaugh, 65, widow of the late William J. Cavenaugh of Rose Hill died early Friday morning in Duplin General Hospital at Kenansville after having been in declining health for the past several months.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the services conducted by the Rev. J. B. Holden of Rose boro [sic] and Rev. Leonard Drews of Faison. Interment was in the Wallace Family Cemetery in the Pasture Branch Community of Duplin County, North Carolina.
She is survived by three daughters Mrs. L. L. Chapman of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Ernest Rooks of Watha and Mrs. Paul Garris of Rose Hill, eight graund [sic] children and two great grand children. Three sisters Mrs. W. M. Martin of Wallace, Mrs. R. L. Flake of Clinton and Mrs. Donald Macon of Wilmington. Three brothers, Archie Dixon of Southport, Ed Dixon of Wallace and Robert Dixon of Beulaville."

He is survived by four sons, Dewey English of Wallace, Stephen and Waiters English both of Warsaw and J. Butler English of Wilmington. Two daughters Mrs. R. R. Cavenaugh of Wallace and Mrs. George Sissel of Houston, Texas. Eighteen grand children and twenty great grand children."

Five sisters, Mrs. Lucille Sanderson and Mrs. Howard Atkinson of Rt. 2, Wallace and Mrs. Ora Register and Mrs. Mertie [?] Futrell of Chinquapin and Mrs. Ruth Ann Butler of Knoxville, Tenn."

Wallace - Zebbie Vance Lanier, 62, formerly of Chinquapin, died late Friday in Baltimore, Md. Md. [sic].
He was a native of Duplin County but had made his home in Baltimore for many years.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Sharon Baptist Church in Chinquapin with the Rev. M. Blackmore and the Rev. K. D. Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Lanier family cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mildred Lanier of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Odthal Sandlin of Ft. Devens, Mass., Mrs. Doris Amersbach of Baltimore, and Mrs. Ann Jones of Edward, Calif.; one son, Arvin Lanier of Baltimore; four brothers, John Edward of Burgaw, Jimmy of Beulaville, Jody of Chinquapin and Charlie of Harrells; four sisters, Mrs. Bertie Hatcher, Mrs. Bessie Bradham and Mrs. Minnie Sloan of Chinquapin and Ada Brown of Wallace and 12 grandchildren.

Wallace - Funeral services for Richard Ray Futrell, 41, formerly of Chinquapin, will be held there Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Sharon Baptist Church. Dr. Jim Blackmore of Warsaw will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Futrell, a native of Duplin county, died of a heart attack Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he had lived for several years. He was employed with the General Electric Corporation there.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Rose Parker Futrell of Ohio; a son, Richard Ray Jr. of the U. S. Marines, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; a daughter, Sue, of the home; his mother, Mrs. Myrtie Futrell of Chinquapin; two brothers, Willie of Beulaville and Allen Futrell of Magnolia; six sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Scheel of Glenwood, Minn., Mrs. Lena Gerhardstein of Cincinnati, Mrs. Sarah Boykins of Wendell, Mrs. May L. Albertson of Beulaville, and Mrs. Eunice Hall and Mrs. Myrtle Wood, both of Rose Hill.
Visitation will be at the Norman Funeral Home in Wallace until an hour before the services, when the body will be taken to the church."

A native of Duplin County, he was a retired farmer and a charter member and deacon of the Shiloh Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. Reese Riggins, pastor of the church. Burial will be in the Amos Lanier cemetery.
Survivors include four sons, Elbert W. Maready and William F. Maready, both of Rt. 1, Chinquapin, Percy A. Maready of Rt. 2, Wallace, and Elzie E. Maready of Durham; a daughter Mrs. Hettie Edwards of Rt. 2 Beulaville; a sister, Mrs. Katie Lanier of Rt. 2 Beulaville; nine grandchildren."

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 O'clock [sic] at the Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Oscar Honeycutt, Marvin Brown and J. B. Holder. Burial was in the Cavenaugh Family Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters Mrs. Inez Swinson and Mrs. Marie Chestnutt both of Rose Hill, eight grand children and seventeen great grand children, one sister Mrs. Annie Wood of Wallace."
