He bequeathed his land, 150 acres, more or less to his sons: Alexander S. Shupe, Andrew T. Shupe and Benjamin W. Shupe. His five daughters each received $100.00 to be discharged in money and a horse and saddle worth one hundred dollars to be paid to each one of the five girls as they arrive the age of 21 years. He also stipulated all household and kitchen furniture was to remain at the present residence and on the farm for the benefit of the widow and minor heirs except the woodwork and all irons from two wagsons now worth $65.00 which amounts to be equally divided among all the legatees. Witnesses and executors were William Kinser and Jacob H. Slemp. Teste was James W. Orr. This info provided by family members and Eva Hopkins records according to Ruth Wolfe who complied the information. She also indicated James had lived in Smyth and Lee Counties in Virginia and in Johnson Co TN., and that his occupation was farmer.

Notes for Abraham Taylor Pugh:
Mortuary: Abraham Taylor Pugh was born Aug 11 1847 in Smith Co., VA. In 1854, when a boy he came to Dekalb County, Missouri and in 1860, he located in Clinton County. some 14 years since he became a resident of St. Joseph, Mo., where he died Sept 27 1903, age 56 year 1 month and 16 days. He was married the first time to Miss Eliza Price of Clinton County Missouri in 1873. Of this marriage seven children were born, four boys and three girls, one boy and one girl preceded him to the better land. He wife died Oct 24 1885. About 15 years since he was married again to Mrs. Mattie Harkrader in Plattsburg Missouri. Of this union was born a girl now 13 years old. This daughter, his wife, five children of the first marriage, two sister, Mrs. john Whitson of Gower and Mrs. Sam'l Lowry of Plattsburg, and three brothers, Jackson, David and Robert Pugh survive him. Some 20 years since he became a member of the Christian Church. He was a god and kind hearted man. he said to his sister on his death bed: "I am not afraid to die. I never did anything in which I am afraid to meet my God. the remains were brought to Gower, Monday evening, the funeral being next day from the Christian church where a large number of his former friends assembled, the services being conducted by Elder J. C. Creel, after which all that was mortal of generous and well-meaning Taylor Pugh, was laid to rest in Antioch Cemetery where his father and mother repose. One who knew him (Died of Dropsy; buried on 28 Sept. 1903; lived at 510 S. 22nd St., St. Joseph, MO.; Arrangements made by Charles Dillon (son-in-law) and Robert Pugh (brother): Funeral paid for by the Carpenters Local #110: Wagon to Depot, suite, $5.50, Embalming, $10.00, casket, $50.00, wagon, $3.00, Carriage, $3.00, Total cost, $71.50.)

WILLIAM J. PUGH
William J. Pugh 76 died this morning at a hospital in St. Joseph. He was stricken at his home and died a short time after being taken to the hospital. Mr. Pugh lived with a daughter, Mrs. William Smith, 2303 N. 7th Street. He was a retired car repairman for the Burlington Railroad. Born in Clinton County Missouri, he had spent most of his life in St. Joseph. Mr. Pugh was a member of the Woodson Chapel Christian Church and the Woodmen of the world.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Clark Griggs, and Mrs. Edward Hestand, al: of St. Joseph; two sons, Clarence Pugh, Grinnell, Iowa and William a. Pugh, St. Joseph; a stepbrother, Virgil Harkrader, Kansas City, and nine grandchildren.
The body is at the Stamey funeral home.
Buried: June 14 1957, Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Andrew Co., Mo.

Services for Mrs. Margaret Anna Pugh will be Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Heaton-Bowman Chapel, the Rev. E. F. Hagee officiating. Burial will be at Savannah, Mo. Mrs. Pugh, 58 1009 Roosevelt Street, died yesterday at a local hospital. born in Savannah, she had lived in St. Joseph 65 years and was a member of Woodson chapel Christian Church.
Surviving are he husband, William J. Pugh of the home; three daughters Mrs. Alice Smith, Mrs. Agnes Griggs and Mrs. Margaret Hestand, all of St. Joseph; two sons, William Pugh, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Lt. Clarence Pugh, serving with the Navy at Solomon, Md.; two brothers, Thomas Bowman, Savannah, and Jacob bowman, St. Joseph; one sister, Mrs. Edna Arterburn, Savannah, and seven grandchildren.

Willis Clark Griggs, 66, 1021 Roosevelt Avenue, died Friday evening at a local hospital following a long illness.
Born in Ethel Mo., Mr. Griggs lived most of his life here. he was retired from the Burlington railroad after 47 years of service. he had been ticket agent at the Union Station here. Mrs. Griggs was a member of the Woodson Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Agnes b. Griggs, of the home; two sons, Willis Clark Griggs, Jr. and Jerry Thomas Griggs. both of St. Joseph; four sisters Mrs. Grace Pugh, St. Joseph, Mrs. Rowena Johns, Kansas City, MO., Mrs. Chessie Erk, St. Joseph, and Mrs. Florence Wylie, el Segundo, California. A brother Oren Griggs, Amazonia, MO., Four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3 PM Monday at the Meierhofer-Fleeman Chapel, the rev. Charles R. Hagee officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, MO.
