Daniel Lewis presented a Bible
to his daughter Serelda. He inscribed the inside leaf,
and inserted sheets with a list of all his children's birth
dates, written in his own hand. Also included are the
records that Serelda herself kept of the births and deaths of
the her family.
This Bible passed from Serelda to her
daughter Effie Helen Owens Peters, who passed it to her
daughter Alice Peters Roddy. I contacted the
granddaughter of Alice Roddy and she graciously made copies
for me. They have a website at

and run a guest ranch in Kerrville Texas.

Daniel Lewis letter to William Jackson Owens (Daniel refers to a "tightener". He patented his own fence tightener and was getting William Jackson Owens, his son in law, to sell them down in Paris, Texas.
