Rock Creek Cemetery
AKA Old Shattuck

This cemetery is located in Lot 5 of the Rock Creek Addition of Shattuck. It is located north and west of the railroad track. The land is owned by David Harris.

Rock Creek was used in the early days for baptisms and early day church services. Reportedly, many a card game was played under the cotton wood trees as well.

There are known graves at this location. Why this spot was chosen and how many graves are truly here is unknown.



Buried Shattuck area - location unknown.

Here are a couple of those stories the family seldom talks about.

This incident reportedly took place in the early twenties. There was at least one person that died from a rope around the neck. Identity and burial place in Shattuck area Unknown. It is believed to have been suicide since very little was ever mentioned of the incident.



The stockyards on the east railroad crossing date of shooting: prior to 1934 a man was shot at the old railway stockyards. He was from Missouri or Iowa. A local relative was called to identify him. It was not told whether or not he was buried in Shattuck or returned to his home state for burial.
