It is with the greatest pleasure that I can announce that our own Diana Barnhart has been selected as California Teacher of the Year. Diana is a science teacher at Los Osos Middle School. She was selected last year as the San Luis Coastal Teacher of the Year. She moved forward for consideration at the county level and was selected San Luis Obispo County Teacher of the Year. Earlier this week, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell, informed Diana that she had been selected as one of the five California Teachers of the Year. Diana was selected through a competitive process from among the finest teachers in the state. Please join me in congratulating Diana Barnhart on this phenomenal recognition. NOTE: Diana is the daughter-in-law of our Patriarch, John Raymond Barnhart, himself a retired California Educator and Administrator. Diana's husband, John Douglas Barnhart, is a son of John Raymond and is the Asst. Superintendent for the Educational Services Division of the San Luis Obispo County Schools. Teaching runs in the family! |
