SECOND NATIONAL ROMIG REUNION

  " My Romig Family "

My name is Carol Romig Dietrich and I want to welcome you to my site. Years ago, my late Father, Arthur E. Romig, developed an interest in tracing his ancestry. It is my intention to finish what he started. Our Romig family, in America started with four brothers, I think, they, must have talked together about their plans, hopes, to travel to America. The first and youngest of the brothers, Christian, immigrated to America on the ship, "Christian".  He arrived at the Port of Philadelphia, on September 13, 1749. He then settled in the City of Lancaster and married Catherine Werner. Together they raised two daughters and two sons. The family later moved to the New Holland area, of Earl Twp., Lancaster County, Pa.

Two of the brothers traveled together to America, Hans George and George Michael, both left Germany on the ship, " Brothers". These two brothers arrived at the Port of Philadelphia on August 24, 1750.  Hans George and George Michael, both settled in the County of York, Pa. Hans George married a Susanna Frey. At this time, very little is known of this couple. I suspect they moved, either to the western part of Pa., or even to another State.  George Michael, married Catherina, last name unknown. Together they had eleven children, most of whom, stayed in the area surrounding the City of York, York County, Pa.

The last brother to travel to America, was my Ancestor, Johannes Romig, who arrived at the Port of Philadelphia, on the ship, " Snow Louisa", on November 8, 1752.  Johannes settled in the Worman area of Berks County, Pa. Here, he became a farmer, built himself a stone house, barn, both, of which are still standing to this day. He married Anna Maria Kiehle, and together they raised six children, that I know of.

Most of my ancestors were farmers, undertakers, carpenters, cabinetmakers, teachers and businessmen.
