Ancestors/Decsendents of some Rensselaer County, NY Chapmans

In 1995, while looking up some genealogy at the Nassau Free Library in Nassau, Rensselaer County, NY; I came across a hand written descendent tree for Chapman in the Stephentown, NY area. I put the information in my "to do" file as this line of Chapmans were not from my William Chapman of New London, CT branch. I had intended to follow up on this data at a later date.

Well, as of December 19, 2001, I have finally "completed" my initial research on these local Chapmans. It turns out that this line is descendent from the Robert Chapman of Say-brook, CT line of Chapmans. Using the FW Chapman book (The Chapman Family or the Descendents of Robert Chapman one of the First Settlers of Say-Brook, Conn with Genealogical Notes of William Chapman, who settled in New London, Conn.; Edward Chapman, who settled at Windsor, Conn.; John Chapman, of Stonington, Conn.; and Rev. Benjamin Chapman, of Southington, Conn.), and information found on the internet, I have been able to trace a portion of this line.

The data I have located is only for the one brance of the Robert Chapman Jr. line. Much more information on this entire line can be found in the FW Chapman book.

Now, I have not verified any of the data here. So, do not take the information as gospel! Just use this as a starting point. I have discovered a number of error, inconsistencies in the FW Chapman data and other data found on the internet.
