Searching for the parents of: Ira Johnson, born in Oneida County, NY about 1780-5 (at that time still Montgomery Co.) and his wife, Sally Sturgis, born ca 1787 (possibly either NY or CT). Sally (Sarah?) might have been a widow, with a son Alexander E. (---) born about 1805 in New York when she married Ira Johnson. Together, Sally and Ira Johnson had: Lyman, born about 1812 and Benjamin F. born 25 March 1813 in the Town of Sweden. Ira had a daughter Esther, named in his will but it is not known at this time who the Mother was; perhaps Ira was a widower when he married Sally Sturgis? According to Landmarks of Monroe County, (P 114): Ira, the Father came to the town of Sweden in 1816. His will was dated 27 Feb 1816, probated 10 May 1816. Alexander E. is my ancestor, but certainly interested in all family members of Ira Johnson.... |

ROOT – JOHNSON – EBNER - WEBER While trying to track certain members of my Alexander Johnson family of Brockport, Sweden Twp., Monroe, NY, information was found about a possible connection to a family that I cannot seem to find for more data; hopefully someone can tell me about the couple: Cyrus C. Root had a wife Mary S. Johnson. Their daughter Flora (Florence?) E. Root married a Joseph Ebner in Rochester, NY on 21 Oct 1882. I think this Florence is the same one who is buried on the plot of my Alexander Johnson and whose name is on his tombstone - but I have not been able to find a family tie. There are no Root burials listed in this cemetery, in Sweden Twp., Monroe County. The parents of Joseph Ebner are: Chater Ebner and wife Magdale Weber...Flora was age 22 and Joseph was age 25. |

| Glen Johnson | William, Ann | Monroe | In 1933 to 1938, reunions of descendants of
William Johnson were held in Ontario, Canada, mostly in Hamilton. I have
clippings from papers reporting on these reunions and Rochester, NY was
reported to be one of the places from which descendants came. I have a photograph of 230 attendees in 1933 posted at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wmjohnson1832 and the clippings are accessible from that page. Approximately 95 have been identified. Are you or one of your ancestors one of the unidentified ones? I am especially anxious to find descendants of Ann Johnson who married an unknown Montgomery and moved to the USA. |

Looking for information on the parents and siblings of John Johnson who was born in "Chatham" (Kinderhook until 1795), Columbia Co., NY on 15 Feb 1792. According to tradition handed down, he was supposed to be the youngest of 9 sons. In June of 1812, he enlisted in the militia in Riga, NY, during the War of 1812, under the name of John Johnson Jr.
Any information on any Johnson's that lived in that area around 1790-1810 that could have been related to my John would be greatly appreciated.
He married Prudence Boothe in Genesee, Livingston Co., NY in 1823; moved to Cattaraugus Co., NY by 1830 and to PA by 1840. They had 4 children: Mary, Cibyl, Charlotte and Jesse B. |
