March 29th, 1827

This indenture made and concluded upon this 29th day of March Anno Domini 1827 between George RICHARDSON of Meigs County in the State of Ohio of the one part and David BARBER of the same County and State of the other part witnesseth that whereas the said George RICHARDSON is indebted to KNOX and MCKEE of Wheeling Virginia in the sum of four hundred dollars and for the payment of which he hath this day given them his bond or single bill payable in ninety days after this date and whereas the said George RICHARDSON is desirous of securing the payment of the same when it shall become due and payable. Now these present witnesseth that the said George RICHARDSON for and consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars to him in hand paid by the said David BARBER the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents doth give grant bargain bargain sell and assign unto the said David BARBER all the following described property namely all the stock of goods wares and merchandize now in his store at Sterling in Meigs County in the said State of Ohio and also certain groceries goods wares and merchandize just purchased of said KNOX and MCKEE and also a set of Mill irons to have and to hold the same unto the said BARBER and assigns forever Upon trust nevertheless and with the intent that if the said RICHARDSON shall fail or omit to pay the said four hundred dollars When the same shall become due and payable then and in that case the said BARBER be deserted by the said KNOX and MCKEE so to do shall having ten days notice of the time and place of sale by an advertizement thereof posted on the door of the Court House for said County Meigs procede to sell at the said place called Sterling to the highest and best bidder for ready money the goods wares and merchandize and property aforesaid for such part thereof as the said trustee BARBER can then find and out of the proceeds of the sale thereof be said BARBER shall first pay the costs of sale and this deed and 2ndly the amount of the said $400 debt (at the time of sale) and interest thero due thereon or whatever part of said debt and interest may then be due and unpaid the said BARBER shall pay to said KNOX and MCKEE on order of tally shall pay this balance if any to the said George RICHARDSON on order. It is understood and agreed that the said goods wares and merchandise and property aforesaid are to be and remain in the possession of the said George RICHARDSON until such time as the said KNOX and MCKEE shall order or cause this same to be sold-It is also understood and agreed that the provisions of this deed are to cease and determine and the said deed to be void whenever the said RICHARDSON shall pay the said four hundred dollars and any interest due thereon. This indenture made and concluded upon this 11th day of April Anno Domini 1827-between George RICHARDSON of Meigs County in the State of Ohio of the one part and Peter LAWLANCE of the same county and State of Ohio of the other part witnesseth to that whereas the said George RICHARDSON is indebted to Doct. W. H. SHAUGH of Grahams Virginia in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars and for the payment of which he hath this day given him his bond or single bill payable in twelve months from this date and whereas the said George RICHARDSON is desirous of securing the payment of the same when it shall become due and payable. Now these present witnesseth that the said George RICHARDSON for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars to him in hand paid by the said Peter LAWLANCE all the following described property viz all his household furniture beds beding cooking utensils farming ditto books pictures he now in his house at Sterling together with two cows one steer one horse and cart twenty hogs and the frame of a grist mill at present standing in the land of John and Hugh BROWN in said county and state together with all the rest of his personal property not otherwise disposed of To have and to hold the same unto the said Doct. W. H. SHAUGH and assigns forever upon trust nevertheless and with the intent that if the said George RICHARDSON shall fail or omit to pay the said one hundred and fifty dollars when the same shall become due and payable then and in that case the said Peter LAWLANCE being directed by said Doct. W. H SHAUGH so to do shall having first given ten days notice of the time and place of sale by an advertisement thereof posted on the door of the court House for said County of Meigs provide to sell at the said place called Sterling to the highest and best bidder for ready money the goods and property aforesaid or such part thereof as the said trustee Peter LAWLANCE can then find and out of the proceeds of the sale thereof the said Peter LAWLANCE shall first pay the cost of sale and this deed and secondly the amount of said debt of one hundred and fifty dollars and in trust then due thereon or whatever part of said debt and interest may then to wit at the time of said sale be due and unpaid The said Peter LAWLANCE shall pay to said W. H. SHAUGH on order and lastly shall pay the balance if any to the said George RICHARDSON on order and it is understood and agreed that the said furniture and other property ... are to be and remain in the possession of the said George RICHARDSON until such time as the said Doct. W. H. SHAUGH shall order or cause the same to be sold-It is also understood and agreed that the provisions of this deed are to cease and determine and the said debt to be void when ever the said George RICHARDSON shall pay the said one hundred and fifty dollars and any interest due thereon. This indenture made and concluded the 28th Day of January Anno Domini 1828 between George RICHARDSON of Meigs County of the State of Ohio of the one part and David BARBER merchant of the same county and state of the other part witnesseth (illegible word)the said George Richardson is indebted to KNOX and MCKEE of Wheeling of Virginia in the sum of four hundred dollars and for the payment of hold the same unto the said BARBER and assigns forever upon Trust nevertheless and with the intent that if the said RICHARDSON shall fail or omit to pay the said Four hundred Dollars when the same shall become due and payable then and in that case the said BARBER being directed by the said KNOX and MCKEE so to do shall having first given ten days notice of the time and place of sale by an advertisement thereof posted on the Door of the Court house for said County Meigs proceed to sell at the said place called Sterling to the highest and best bidder for ready money the Goods wares and merchandize and property aforesaid or such part thereof as the said Trustee BARBER can then find and out of the proceeds of the said thereof he-said BARBER shall first pay the costs of sale and this Deed and 2ndly the amount of said Debt of four hundred dollars and interest then due thereon or whatever part of said Debt may then to wit at the time of said sale be due and unpaid he said BARBER shall pay to said KNOX and MCKEE on order and lastly he shall pay the ballance if any to the said George RICHARDSON on order. To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting, Be it known that we Agrippa WELLS of the Township of Wilkesville, Gallia County and State of Ohio and Mary WELLS wife of the said Agrippa WELLS of the aforesaid Township County & State for in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to us in hand paid before the ensealing hereof and paid before the ensealing hereof & delivery of these presents by George RICHARDSON of Lebanon Township in the County of Meigs State aforesaid the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge and are therewith fully satisfied and contented have given granted bargained and sold by these presents do grant bargain sell convey and by these presents confirm unto him the said George RICHARDSON his heirs, executors & administrators the following described tract of land situated in said Wilkesville Township to wit one hundred and fifty nine acres being the North front of Section (No. 2) number two in Township number eight (No. 8) Range number Sixteen (No. 16) in the Ohio Company's purchase bounded as follows on the North by the north line of said section and on the East and West by the East & West lines of said section number two Together with all & singular privileges and appurtenances to the same in any wise belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have & to hold the above described & granted & bargained premises with the appurtenances thereof unto him the said George RICHARDSON his heirs & assigns in fee simple forever. And we the said Agrippa WELLS & Mary WELLS do by these presents for ourselves and our heirs covenant & assign & with the said George RICHARDSON his heirs & assigns the above described & granted & bargained premises unto him the said George RICHARDSON his heirs executors, administrators or assigns to warrant and forever defend against all persons peacefully claiming or claim the same or any part or parcel thereof. In testimony whereof we have caused our names to be subscribed & our seals affixed this twenty eight day of December. In the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred thirty nine.

This indenture made the twenty eight day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty one between Nicholas RICHARDSON and Hannah his wife of Lebanon Township in Meigs County and State of Ohio of the one part and James AMSDEN of the Township of Lebanon in the County and State aforesaid of the second part Witnesseth that the said Nicholas RICHARDSON and Hannah his wife for the consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof hereby acknowleged have granted bargained sold and quit claimed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and quit claim unto the said James AMSDEN his heirs executors administrators and assigns all their and each of their right title interest claim and demand or estate both as tax and in Equity and as well possession as expectancy of and to all the following bounded and described tract of land

Beginning at the stake on the Bank of the Ohio River to the banks south of a large Sugar tree Hence by the line between said RICHARDSON and AMSDEN west to John ANDERSONs line thence by said line North to such place that a due West line from a Locust on the bank of the Ohio River may intersect, Thence said line East to the Locust on the bank of said ------Thence down the river to the place of beginning It being part of Section eight township no three range number eleven situate in the township and County of Meigs together will all the singular the (illegible) and appurteances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining.

Know all men by these presents that I Hannah GROVER of the County of Meigs and Sate of Ohio in consideration of the sum of one thousand Dollars in hand paid by Nicholas RICHARDSON of the same place do hereby revise release and forever quit claim unto the said Nicholas RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns forever all my title interest and estate legal and equitable in the following premises with the appurtenances situate in the County of Meigs ande State of Ohio and in the Township of Lebanon and bounded and described as follows. Beginning at a stake south of a large sugar tree on the bank of the Ohio River nearly in front of the Methodist Meeting house at the southeast course of the farm owned an occupied by James AMSDEN and Ruth LAUCK thence west one hundred and eight one perches and five tenth to a stake on the section line, thence south forty perches and then ten links to a stake, thence east one hundred and ten perches and six tenths to a stake, thence south three perches to a stake, thence east nine perches to a stake, thence north three perches to a stake, thence east ninety two perches on the bank of the Ohio river, thence up the river with its meanders to the place of beginning being a part of Fractional section no. eight in Township No. three, Range no. eleven in the Ohio Company purchase containing fifty acres and twenty seven perches be the same more or less. In testimony whereof I have herunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of October AD 1845.

Know all men by these presents that we James AMSDEN and Elizabeth AMSDEN of the County of Meigs Ohio in consideration of the sum of nine hundred dollars in hand paid by Nicholas RICHARDSON of the same place have bargained and sold and do hereby grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Nicholas RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situate in the County of Meigs in the State of Ohio and in the Township of Lebanon and bounded and described as follows. Beginning at the Stake on the bank of the Ohio River at the corner of a small lot owned by Lawrence JENKS. Thence west Seventy and half perches to a stake at the Northwest corner of said JENKS lot, thence south Eight perches to the line of hundred acre lot No. 146, thence west with the line of said hundred acre lot to John ANDERSONS southeast corner, thence North with the ANDERSONs line to a stake at the corner of a lot conveyed by Hannah GROVER to said RICHARDSONs hence east one hundred and ten perches and six tenths to a stake thence south three perches to a stake thence East nine perches to a stake thence east ninety-two perches to a stake on the bank of said River thence down the River to the place of beginning containing sixty four acres be the same more or less being the south part of the Fraction section no. eighteen town three range eleven in the Ohio Companies purchase. To have and to hold said premises with the appurtenances unto the said Nicholas RICHARDSON his heirs an assigns forever. And the said James AMSDEN for himself and heirs doth hereby convenant with the said Nicholas RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns that he is lawfully seized of the premises of aforesaid, that the premises are free and clear from all incumbrance whatsoever and that he will forever warrant and defend the same with the appurtenances unto the said Nicholas RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns against the lawful claim of all persons whomseover. Know all men by these presents that Nicholas RICHARDSON and Hannah RICHARDSON his wife of said Nicholas RICHARDSON of the county of Meigs Ohio in consideration of the sum of four hundred and eighty four dollars in hand paid by a James AMSDEN of the same place have bargained and sold and do hereby grant bargain sell and convey unto the said James AMSDEN his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situate in the County of Meigs in the State of Ohio and in the Township of Lebanon and bounded and described as follows Beginning at a stake on the Bank of the Ohio river near the northeast Methodist meeting house and twelve links south of a large tree, thence west one hundred and eighty one rods and nine tenths to a stake on the section line, thence south eighteen rods and six tenths to a stake thence East one hudnred and ninety six rods and five tenths to the bank of the said river thence up the river with the meanders thereof to the place of beginning. Know all men by these presents that we Nicholas RICHARDSON and Hannah wife of said Nicholas RICHARDSON of the County of Meigs Ohio in consideration of the sum of nine hundred dollars in hand paid by G. W. MCCLENATHAN of the same place have bargained and sold and do hereby bargain sell and convey unto the said G. W. MCCLENATHAN his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situate in the County of Meigs in the State of Ohio and in the Township of Lebanon and bounded and described as follows. Beginning at a stake on the bank of the Ohio River at the corner of a small lot owned by Lawrence JENKS, thence west seventeen and a half perches to the Northwest corner of said JENKS lot thence south eight perches to the line of hundred acre Lot no. 146 thence west with the line of said hundred acre lot to John ANDERSONs southwest corner, thence North with said ANDERSONs line so far that a line drawn east to the Ohio river thence down the river to the place of beginning will include forty two acres. To have and hold said premises with the appurtenances unto the said G. W. MCCLENATHAN his heirs and assigns forever. Provided always and these presents are upon this condition that whereas the said Nicholas RICHARDSON hath executed to said G. W. MCCLENATHAN his promissory note of even date herewith for the payment of the following sums of money at times following. Three hundred dollars on the first of March AD 1847 three hundred dollars on the first of March AD 1848 and then three hundred dollars on the first of March AD 1849 with interest on said payments from dates. Now if the said Nicholas RICHARDSON shall pay said several sums of money to said G. W. MCCLENATHAN as his assigns when the same respectively become due with the interest then these presents to be void otherwise to be and remain in full force. In testimony whereof the said Nicholas RICHARDSON and Hannah RICHARDSON have hereunto set their hands and seal this 20th day of June AD 1846.

Know all men by these presents that we Lawrence JENKS and Polly JENKS wife of said Lawrence JENCKS of the County of Meigs Ohio in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars in hand paid by Joseph A. RICHARDSON of Wheeling Virginia have bargained and sold and do hereby grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Joseph A. Richardson his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situate in the county of Meigs in the State of Ohio and in the Township of Lebanon. Beginning at the south East corner of the lot called the GROVER lot in section eight town three range eleven, and lot no. eight in the Ohio Companies purchase. Thence running west of the line of said lot fifteen perches and eighteen links to a stake. Thence North eight perches to a stake, thence East twelve perches and five links to the Bank of the Ohio River, thence south 23 dg. east eight perches and twenty two links to the place of Beginning containing one hundred and twelve square perches be the same more or less. To have and to hold said premises with the appurtenances unto the said Joseph A. Richardson his heirs an assigns forever. And the said Lawrence JENKS for himself and heirs doth hereby covenant with said Joseph A. RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns that he is lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid that the premises are free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever, and that he will forever warrant and defend the same with the appurtenances unto the said Joseph A. RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.

RICHARDSON of the County of Ohio and State of Virginia in considertaion of the sum of five hundred dollars in hand paid by Lawrence JINCKS of the County of Meigs, Ohio have bargained and sold and do hereby grant, bargain sell and convey unto the said Lawrence JINCKS his heirs and assigns forever the following premises. Situate in the county of Gallia in the state of Ohio and in the Township of Wilkesville and bounded and described as follows to Wit: one hundred and fifty nine acres (159) being the north part of section no. two in the Township no. eight range no. sixteen in the Ohio Company purchase and bounded on the North east, and west by the North East and west lines of said section no. two.

To have and to hold said premises with the appurtenances unto the said Lawrence JINCKS his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Joseph A. RICHARDSON for himself and heirs doth hereby covenant with said Lawrence JINCKS his heirs and assigns that he is lawfully seized of the premises aforeaid that the premises are free and clear from all incumbrances whatsover; and that he will forever warrant and defend the same with the appurteances unto the said Lawrence JINCKS his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In testimony thereof the said Joseph A. RICHARDSON and Sarah RICHARDSON have hereunto set their hands and seals the seventh day of July AD one thousand eight hundred and forty eight.

Know all men by these presents that we Nicholas RICHARDSON and Hannah RICHARDSON wife of said Nicholas RICHARDSON of the County of Meigs Ohio in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars in hand paid by Joseph A. RICHARDSON of the City of Wheeling, Virginia have bargained and sold and do hereby grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Joseph A. RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situate in the County of Meigs in the State of Ohio and in the County Township of Lebanon and bounded and described as follows to wit, Beginning at the south west corner of the JENKS lot fifteen perches and eighteen links from the southeast corner of section eight and town three range eleven in the Ohio Companies purchase. Thence west twenty rods to a stake thence north eight rods to a stake. Thence east twenty rods to the North west corner of the JENKS lot thence south eight rods to the place of beginning containing one acre and being part of the lot known as the GROVER lot. To have and to hold said premises with the appurtenances unto the said Joseph A. RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns forever and the said Nicholas RICHARDSON for himself and heirs doth hereby covenant with said Joseph A. RICHARDSON his heirs and assigns that he is lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid that the premises are free and clear from all incumbrance whatsoever, and that he will forever warrant and defend the same with the appurtenances unto the said Jospeh A. This Indenture made this twenty eighth day of August in the year of our Lord one thouand eight hundred and fifty one By and between Nicholas S. RICHARDSON and Hannah his wife, James AMSDEN and Elizabeth his wife and Ruth LAUCK of the County of Meigs and State of Ohio the said party of the first part and Isaac A. LAUCK of the County and State aforesaid Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part hath devised granted bargained sold and quit claimed unto the said Isaac A. LAUCK a certain lot of land lying and being in the County of Meigs and State of Ohio. Range eleven 11, Town 3 Section Eight (8) commencing at the Northwest corner of said Section on the Ohio River thence running south ninety eight rods and eight lengths = 39-8. To a stake Thence east forty two rods and one length 42.1 to a stake on the bank of the River Thence up the River to the place of beginning containing five acres and sixteen rods be the same more or less and by these presents Do grant bargain sell and quit claim all the rights bills claims and interest in and unto said land to the said Isaac A. LAUCK his heirs Exectors Administrators and assigns to have and to hold forever after the sum and consideration of the twelve hundred and eighty seven dollars and fifty cents to us in hand paid before the signing and sealin thereof. The receipts of which is hereby ackowledged and (illegible word).

Before me the profession of the Justice of the Peace in and for said county personally came the within named Nicholas RICHARDSON and Hannah his wife and James AMSDEN and Elizabeth his wife and Ruth LAUCK and acknowledged the within indenture to be their voluntary act and deed and desire that the same might be admitted to record and the said Hannah RICHARDSON, Elizabeth AMSDEN and Ruth LAUCK being of full age examined by me separate and apart from their said husbands and the contents of the within written deed of conveyance by me having been made known fully unto them they did on such separate examination declare and say that they became a praty thereunto voluntarily and of their own good free will without any compulsion or coercion on the part of their hunbands.
