1. PHILIP1 PANTIER was born Abt. 1742 in Germany or France, and died Bet. 1785 - 1788 in Kentucky. He married SUSANNAH DEVINE Abt. 1769, daughter of JOHN DEVINE and MARGARET UNKNOWN.
Notes for PHILIP PANTIER:
Philip served in the Lincoln County Kentucky Militia under George Rogers Clark in 1779 and 1782 against the Indians in Ohio.
Philip was a friend to Daniel Boone and accompanied him on his early trips into Kentucky. He helped to build Boonesborough. Their son, James, was the second white male child born in Kentucky.

James was called "Uncle Jimmy" by Abe Lincoln. He wore buckskins all of his life.
He was a faith healer who supposedly could cure almost anything including snakebite with the touch of his hand.

Notes for DAVID M. PANTIER:
David served in The Blackhawk War under Captain Abraham Lincoln.
David was quoted in "The History of Menard Co., Ill. 1879" as saying that as a boy he earned the money for his first pair of shoes by trapping. Barefoot, in the winter, he carried a board with him to stand on as he set his traps.

The family moved to Boone County in 1867. They later went to California for 8 years but returned to live in Boone County. In 1914 they had 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
