Union Soldiers Buried at Lebanon, Missouri, 1862-1865

UNION SOLDIERS BURIED AT LEBANON, MISSOURI
1862-1865

From the Weekly Patriot, Monday, September 4, 1865; published at Springfield, Missouri by Ingram and Teed.

"List of Union Soldiers Interred at Lebanon, Missouri.
Office A. Q. M.,
Springfield, Mo., Aug. 26, 1865

"Messrs. Ingram & Teed: -- Enclosed I send you, as far as I am able to procure it, report of dead interred at Lebanon, Mo. You will please publish the same.

"It will be observed that tier No. 1 commences at the southwest corner of the grave yard, the numbers running from South to North, successively. No register of burials has been kept at the Post, and it is due to Lieut. Lukens, present A. Q. M. at Lebanon, to say that he has exerted himself fully to give every information possible on the subject. The Diagram furnished will enable you to satisfy, as far as in your power, inquires that may be made.

"The frequently recurring remark, Unknown, is all that Lieut. Lukens or myself can say upon burials that occurred before either of us had charge of the matter, and when the officers in charge doubtless were engaged in matters connected with the living considered of far more importance than the registry of the dead.

"Respectfully, R. B. Owen, A. Q. M."
