MISEMER CEMETERY

Lawrence County, Missouri

In loving memory of his wife Mary, from Harry Misemer

Formerly the Kimmons Graveyard or Kimmons Burying Ground,
this cemetery was deeded to trustees in 1877 by Mr. and Mrs. William Marshall Misemer.

As is evident in the above photo, some stones are damaged beyond recognition
or are lost entirely. If you believe an ancestor may be buried in this cemetery
I suggest you check with the Lawrence County Historical Society for a copy
of earlier tombstone transcriptions.
(Vol. One with Ozark and Turnback Townships includes Misemer Cemetery.)
I estimate there are around 350 stones to be photographed.

Many of the stones, including those for P. P. Misemer and Eliza M. Misemer, need
to be cleaned before they can be photographed. The stone for
Robert Kimins, 1859-1885, was not legible at all without cleaning. After cleaning,
Mr. Kimins' stone revealed not only his name and the dates of his birth and death,
but also a poem on the side of one of the bases and the name of the
marble cutter in Mt. Vernon who made the stone, A. E. Davis.
