ACTS OF THE COMMITTEE lot* of fourteene Rod broad Northward of Mr Younglove, & next lot but one to Mr. Younglove, make the eighty acres formerly ordered to be set apart for ye Ministry, That is for ye use and Impvemnt or Maintainance & support of such as shall Preach ye word of God to ve People in Suffeild according to ye order & first Settlement thereof, as in page 4th sect. 12".¥ The foure score acres there mentioned as agreed to be set apart, is now here Pitched, ye very Place where it shall abide & be continued (viz) as afore mentioned in these 2 Places on ye East Side of High Streete : first, 14. rod in breadth for ye Howse lot; Northward 12 rod fro ye Reverend Mr Youngloves lot ; & then about half a Mile further Northward. 40. rod in breadth more ; adjoyning to ye Northside of Goodm : Ingersolls lot. All wch breadth & 14 rod 40 rod 54. ye whole breadth: all wch Running back Eastward full twelve score rods in length, makes up ye compleate Eighty acres reserved; Set ap't, & stated for ye Ministry forever: as in pa' 4th, & not lyable to any allienation therefrom : ¥¥And for ye Alotmt for a Schoole wch as in page 4th was ordered & agreed upon: This Alotmt is likewise Determined to ly in High Streete, betweene ye lot of James King on ye South of it, & ye lot of Michell Towsley on ye North of ye Schoole lot. This School, Alotmt here stated is in breadth agt High Streete on ye front, 30 rod, & runs back estward 12 score rod in length, & is to remaine forever to ye use & support of a Schoole in Suffeild, & yt a Grammar Schoole when it can be obtained, namely when ye Place is Capable of having such a Schoole : & then to be Imployed to noe other use or Impv'emt.Jan 2d 1681/2. At a meeting of ye Comitte for Suffield Present: John Pynchon. Ben Cooley. Geo: Colton Rowl'd Thomas. Granted: to Timothy Palmer, Judah Trumble, & Joseph Trumble : to each of thern Ten acres apeice more then their former, or first Grant, So that by this addition to their Grants their several Alotmts are sixty acres, that is to say each of ym to have sixty acres apeice. Mr. Glover:§ having formerly a Grant of An Alotmt, & Moving to have it for his Son Samuell, Accordingly there is, Granted to Mr Saml Glover 60 & to have for his Hom lot || 12. rod broad in High Streete, next to Mr Younglove, on ye upper, or Northside of him, betwixt Mr Younglove, & ye lot for ye ministry, & If it will holdo ut 13. rod & 12 or 14. rod; ye other lots there having there breadth yt is to say ye lot for ye Ministry. 14 rod & ye next lot above it 12 rod, then Mr. Glover to have ye bredth above it, so as to make him vp 20 acres or more here: ye rest to Compleate Mr Glovers Alotmt 60. acres he to take it up where he may best sute himself, he goeing on wth Impv'mt' spedyly. It is ordered that a ¶ Highway be laid out from High Streete westward into ye Commons, somewhat above Saml Lanes lot, about 2 or 3 lots higher, there ye Highway to turne westward, where ye Measurers shall find it best & most convenient, & so as to take 2 or 3 ___________ * Knox's Hotel is on this lot. ¥ See p. 65. ¥¥ At the first town meeting after Suffield was received under Connecticut Jurisdiction (in 1749), it was voted to sell and lease out this " School Lot " for 999 years for 1,000 pounds old tenor and having good land security.
