OF SUFFIELD. At a Legall Towne Meeting Feby ye 7th, 1694/5: It was unanimously agreed and Voted; the first opportunity offering itself, to make our address to Mr Clap, signifying to him our unanimous and sinceere desire of his returne to us again, in order to his settlement amongst us In the work of the ministry.At a Genneral Towne Meeting March ye 5th,1694/5: for the choise of needfull Officers to order the prudentiall affaires for the wellfair of this place, accordingly choise was made, and the persons chosen for the ensueing year are as followeth. Select Men--Victory Sikes, Jonath: Tailor, James King, Tho Granger, and John Kent. Constable.--Tho Copley. Towne Clarke.--Anthony Austin. Land measurer. --David Winchill. Sealer of Leather. --Jacob Adams. Sizer & Sealer of Weights & Measurers --Victory Sikes. Surveyors of highwayes.- -Quintan Stockwell, Edward Smith, Robt Old. Fence Veiwers.- -Joseph Segar, Wm Pritchet, George Granger, Jno Remmington. Tything Men.--Tho Smith, Edwd Allyn Sen,. Towne Treasur.-*Joseph Harmon. At a Legall Towne Meeting March ye 15th, 1694/5: Agreed with Capt Norton, and Richard Austin, to make all the Windowes for the Ministers House, at eighteen Pence per Light, and the towne to pay them for the same, in provision, and flax, according to the towne order by way of rate the next winter, which worke they engage to doe, in a quarter of it years time after the date hereof: and if need require to finish one roome sooner. They doe engage that the windowes for it, shall be ready seasonably. Agreed allsoe withe Goodm Sikes to lay all the floors, make all the doors, stairs, and partitions belonging to this house, in all respects compleat, and workmanlike; the towne finding all boards, nailes, and necessary Timber, and bringing them in place seasonably, and fit for service; allsoe hookes, and hinges for the doors, and giving him sixteen pounds in pay, according to the towne order, (which is provision and flax,) by way of Rate the next Spring; then he doth engage to have all this worke, in all respects, compleatly finished by the list of March, Ninety Six; and one roome if need be, as soone as boards, and other materials are provided. It was Allsoe agreed that the Selectmen should procure, and agree with a workerman to build ye chimneys for this House. Jonath: Tailor engaged 1000 of boards, Corpl Allyn engaged 500 of Boards, Ensigne Pengilly, & Joseph Harmon engages to procure all the nailes for the finishing of the ministers House.
