Descendants of ??? THOMASWilliam Thomas and his brother
George are the earliest Thomas ancestors I can prove. That William was George's
heir does not indicate there were no other brothers. At the time George died
the English laws of primogeniture were in effect and only his eldest brother
would have inherited from George. There could very well have been other siblings.
There was a Phillip Thomas living in Charlotte County that I suspect was a relative.
A generation earlier there were Thomas families living in Goochland County and
it's likely there is a connection but I have not found it. Some people have claimed
that William and George were immigrants but I doubt that they were.
