Deveraux J

Deveraux J. Bright

And

Sarah Elizabeth Farmer

After 17 years of searching with the help of many researchers we finally found where Deveraux J. Bright and Sarah Elizabeth Farmer Bright had moved.

The last known place of residence in Georgia was in Banks County in the 1880 Georgia Census.  It only stated Deveraux J. age 32, Sarah E. Bright age 25.  The census only noted 4 children in the 1880 census but in the 1900 Census it is a different story.  Deveraux and Sarah had moved to Limestone, South Carolina in the Draytonville area.  They had the following children:

Martha E. Bright born 1874, Mary E. Bright born 1875, James H. Bright born 1876, Julie I. Bright born 1879, Lizzie M. Bright born 1882, John W. Bright born 1884, Sallie L. Bright born 1887, Mattie B. Bright born 1890, Nancy Bell Bright born 1891, Cleo Bright born 1895, Hattie Brown Bright born 1896 and Nettie Bright born 1887.

Deveraux J. Bright was born April 28, 1848 in South Carolina and is the son of James H. Bright and Martha Elizabeth Ward Bright. Could Deveraux have been named after a neighbor Deveraux Jarrett?  It makes one wonder where the Deveraux came from as no other family member has this name in the generations of the families.

Deveraux's occupation was listed as a card operator in a spinning mill in Limestone, Cherokee County, South Carolina.  Sarah is listed to have bore 12 children with 11 living at the time of the 1900 Cherokee County, South Carolina. I am still on the search for family members and other information on the Deveraux J. Bright Family.  If you can help please email me: Kaye Nicholson
