The Free Census Project is transcribing ALL the UK 19th century census returns in order to create an online “free-to-view” searchable database.

It is part of an initiative helping to make high quality primary (or near primary) records of relevance to UK genealogy conveniently and freely available online.

The Cornwall Online Census Project was part of Free Census and was run by Kay Hinnrichsen of Australia and Michael McCormick who lives in Cornwall. The COCP started in 2000 and was completed in 2008, having transcribed all the Cornish 19th century census returns.
