FAHIE, Foster Sterling - 75, Moose River Gold Mines, died March 17, 1996, in Duncan MacMillian Nursing Home, Sheet Harbour. Born in Mooseland, Halifax Co., he was the son of the late George and Mina (Murphy) Fahie. He was a member of Moose River Gold Mines United Church. He drove of Metro Transit buses for 32 years and upon retiring in 1985, he received a plaque and pin reconizing his safe driving and friendly attitude. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing the fiddle. Surviving are his wife, the former Jennie Riley; stepson, Leslie Wamboldt;  stepdaughter, Joyce Booth, both of Seattle Wash.; 10 step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters, Etta Andrews, Truro; Annie Prest, Upper Musquodoboit; Dorothy Higgins, Moose River Gold Mines. He was predeceased by brothers, Albert, Gordon, Winniford. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service 2 p.m. wednesday in St. James United Church, Upper Musquodoboit, Rev. Gary Burill officiating. HIGGINS, Jessie Elizabeth - 89, Halifax, formerly of Middle Musquodoboit, passed away October 15, 1998, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in Upper Musquodoboit,  she was a daughter of the late John and Myra (Redmond) Burnett. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  While living in Middle Musquodoboit, she had been active in several community groups.  She is survived by her daughters, Bertha, Halifax, with whom she had lived with the past several years;  Ruth (Mrs. George Nymand), Calgary; Verna, Toronto; MaryAnne (Mrs. Alvin Lorette), Truro; Doris (Mrs. Les Lyster), Edmonton;  son, Albert and wife Ellen, Middle Musquodoboit;  grandchildren, Rick, Martin, Jeff and Janet Higgins, Marsha Lorette-MacDonald, Amanda Lorette, Andrew and Joanne Lyster;  great-granddaughters, Rebecca and Ceilidh Higgins, and Madalyn Higgins; several nieces and nephews; sister, Hattie (Mrs. Bert Hughes), Middle Musquodoboit;  brother, Douglas, Edmonton.  She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; daughter, Nellie in infancy; sisters, Ruth Quaade and Nellie Stewart; brothers, Walter, Ernest and John.  Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, October 17, funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, both in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodoboit, Emily Kierstead, DM, officiating.  Burial will be in Higginsville Cemetery.  Family flowers only. HIGGINS, William Harold (Billy) - 65, Newcomb Corner, Halifax Co., died November 14, 1995, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital, Middle Musquodoboit. Born in Newcomb Corner, he was a son of Christena (Parks) Higgins, Newcomb Corner, and the late Harold Higgins. He was a longtime employee of Conform Ltd. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, the former Ralda Smith; sons, Wayne, Cole Harbour; Ralph, John, Brock, Newcomb Corner; daughters, Michelle, Toronto; Valerie (Mrs. Craig Manuel), Elmsvale; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sisters, Shirley Andrews, Truro; Mary Stevens, New Brunswick. HIGGINS, Dale Smith - 39, Prescott Street, Dartmouth, formerly of Middle Musquodoboit, died May 15, 1994, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, he was a son of William and Ralda (Smith) Higgins, Middle Musquodoboit. A self-employed carpenter living in Dartmouth for the past two years, he formerly worked in Vancouver and the Nova Scotia area. He was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by a son, Shane, Lake Echo; four brothers, Wayne, Cole Harbour; Ralph, John (Jack), Brock, all of Middle Musquodoboit; two sisters, Michelle, Toronto; Valerie, Middle Musquodoboit; several nieces and nephews; paternal grandmother, Christena Higgins, Middle Musquodoboit. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Bruce and Lula Smith; paternal grandfather, Harold Higgins. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Higginsville United Church, Higginsville, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Gary Burrill officiating. Burial will be in Higginsville Cemetery. HIGGINS, Vernon Roy - 64, Owls Head, Halifax Co., died August 29, 1996, at Twin Oaks Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Higginsville, he was a son of the late Roy and Ruby (Jennings) Higgins. He was a long standing member of St. John's Anglican Church, Westphal, where he served as warden and parish warden, sang in the choir and was a member of the council. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Owls Head. He worked with the City of Dartmouth for 33 years, retiring in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Ivy; daughter, Shannon Weiterman, Mortons Harbour, Nfld.; son, Robert Woodgate, Westphal; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion (Mrs. Fred Laybolt), Viola (Mrs. George Laybolt), Lake Charlotte; brothers, Leslie, Brookvale; Eric, Higginsville; several nieces and nephews. HIGGINS, Dorothy Blanche - 83, lifelong resident of Moose River Gold Mines, died November 14, 1996, at home. Born at Moose River Gold Mines, she was a daughter of the late George and Mina (Murphy) Fahie. She was a trustee of Moose River United Church and a member of Higginsville United Church. Surviving are daughter, Doreen (Mrs. Eric Newhook), Dartmouth; son, Dennis, Dartmouth; companion, Joe Peters, Moose River Gold Mines; two granddaughters; a great-granddaughter; sisters, Annie Prest, Upper Musquodoboit; Etta Andrews, Truro. She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey; brothers, Foster, Winniford, Albert, Gordon. Cremation has taken place. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday in Higginsville United Church, Rev. HILCHEY, Elsie Mae - 77, Moose River Mines, Halifax County, died March 10, 1994, in the Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. Born in Lindsay Lake, Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Elsie (Prest) Horne. She lived in Moose River Mines most of her life and was a member of Moose River United Church, where she was trustee and secretary treasurer for many years. She was an assistant curator of Moose River and Area Mining Museum. She was a member of the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Society and Arthritis Society. She is survived by four sons, Floyd, Trenton, Ont.; Darrell, Moose River; Wayne, Tony, both of Dartmouth; two daughters, Beverly Clubbe, Jennifer, both of Dartmouth; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry, Moose River; Alfred, Dartmouth; sister, Audrey (Mrs. Herman Smith), Woodside, Halifax County. She was predeceased by her husband, Silver; two sisters, Etta Ross, Mabel Maynard. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Ettinger Funeral Home, Middle Musquodoboit. HORNE, Inez Mae - 68, Dartmouth, died March 22, 1993, at home. Born in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Elmor and Katherine (McPhee) McLellan. She was a former resident of Mooseland, Halifax County. She is survived by her husband, Alfred; five sons, Gordon, Richard, Colin, Gregory, all of Dartmouth; Douglas, Moose River Gold Mines; three daughters, Alice Hickman, Laurie, both of Dartmouth; Marjorie Stevens, Lake Charlotte, Halifax County; four sisters, Viola Alyward, Fall River; Minnie Logan, Elmsdale; Winnie Reid, Oxford; Bernice Inglis, Amherst; brother, Charlie, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Gloria, in infancy; Laverne Glawson; two infant sons, Gay, Graham; sister, Lil Rutledge; two brothers, Joe, Jack. The body is in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Portland Street, Dartmouth, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Higginsville United Church, Rev. Gary Burrill officiating. McCABE, R. Keith - 54, West Northfield, Lunenburg County, died February 27, 1994, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, he was a son of Ralph McCabe, Bridgewater and the late Ruby (Garden) McCabe. He was employed by Maritime Tel and Tel for 35 years, retiring in 1993 as installation and repair manager. He was a former member of Nova Scotia Retrievers Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Laura Bourinot. Cremation under direction of R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville has taken place. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, Rev. John Clarke officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Higginsville, Halifax County. Family flowers only.
