Charles
Peter ERICKSON, his wife Annetto (nee PEDERSON) and their young family arrived in
Australia on the Oroya sailing from London on 22 December 1899 and
arriving
in Australia on 5 February 1900.
Of all our ancestors the
ERICKSONs remain the greatest mystery. Every family has a
story about royalty and ours lies with the Ericksons.
The passenger list shows Peter
Erikson, aged 32, a Mason, could both read and write. His
religion was Lutheran and he was born in Norway. His wife
Anette was 31 and they brought their family with them Astrid
(6), Clara (3) and Ingelborg (4½), all from Norway. Astrid
was shown as a son although she most assuredly was not a male.
Attempts by members of the
family have failed to trace Charles (Papa's) ancestry and
rumours of his descendance from Norway's royalty abound.
Unfortunately his history died with him. Does anyone know the
true story??
