Certain words such as "home keys, debit, credit, shorthand, time tests, and typewriters" remind many Lyons graduates of a very special teacher, Wylma Nichols Elzay. She was the idol of many students wanting to follow in the career path she so capably taught.

Wylma came to Lyons from Reading, Michigan in 1941 to teach the commercial courses. Not long after her arrival she recognized a great individual, our then Superintendent, Jack Elzay, to be her perfect sole mate and the father of their 3 children.

Many, many former Lyons students are thankful for the lives of Jack and Wylma Elzay and hold their fondest memories of Lyons school centered around these 2 great teachers.

Wylma taught from 1941 until 1947.
