OBITUARY:
LEONARD, Ralph G. "Bud"
July 7, 2004



     ADRIAN, MICHIGAN: Ralph G. "Bud" Leonard, age 80, of Adrian, died at Bixby Medical Center on July 7, 2004.

     He was born March 16, 1924, in Adrian, Mich., the son of Ralph J. and Mary Agnes (Gwynn) Leonard. He married Hazel M. Cook on Aug. 10, 1946. He served as a Naval Air Corps pilot in World War II. He owned a service station for 19 years.

     (Ralph graduated from Lyons High School in 1942.) He earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education in 1974 from Siena Heights College, teaching at Michener School for 16 years. After retirement he taught at Gus Harrison Correctional Facility, retiring Feb. 1, 2004.

     Bud was active in many sports, having umpired softball and baseball at the local and state level for 52 years. He was also active in Obedience and Field Dog Training, and Trap Shooting.

     Surviving Bud are his wife of 57 years, Hazel; sister, Marilyn (Leonard) Cook and her husband, Stan Cook (Hazel's brother); brothers, Jack L. Leonard and his wife, Melquy, of Gainesville, Fla., and Carlton Reeves and his wife, Linda, of Sand Creek. He was a special uncle to several nieces, nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, Errol Reeves; a sister and a brother.

     Funeral services for Bud will be held on Saturday, July 10, at noon, at the Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 9, from 2-8 p.m.

     Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or Bixby Community Health Foundation. Envelopes are available at Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home.
