RATHBUN, L. Arden December 4, 2007  L. Arden Rathbun, 91, of Aurora, IL, passed away on December 4, 2007. He was born January 10, 1916, to Channing and Phoebe Rathbun in Sand Creek, MI. He was a teacher at Whitehouse High School, he then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945, and later worked for the Campbell Soup Company and was there for 37 years. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, watching sports and was a loyal Cubs fan. He is survived by his wife of 66 1/2 years, Annabelle (nee Longenecker); his children, Lawrence A. Rathbun Jr., M.D., of Mobile AL, Kent A. (Sheree) Rathbun of Mount Zion, IL, and JoEllen (Rodney) Moss of Oswego, IL; one son-in-law, James Bentley of Flushing, MI; one sister, Virginia Arlene Shipman of LaSalle, MI; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grand-children, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karen A. Bentley M.D.; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. A celebration of life will be on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alden of Waterford, 1995 Randi Drive, Aurora, IL 60504. Published in the Toledo Blade on 12/8/2007. |
