FOUNTAIN VALLEY After much suffering Abram VanValkenburg died last Sunday, aged 71 years, six months and 17 days. His birthplace was Kinderhook, Columbia county, N.Y. He was left an orphan at an early age when he went to live with Daniel G. Smith until of age. Of him he learned the mason trade, which he more or less followed until a few years ago. He joined the Christian church in 1844. His marriage to Nancy Hale occurred in 1843. They moved to Ohio in 1847, settling up on the farm where he lived until his death. To them were born six children. Two died when young, Hannah A. and Adrian. The surviving children, with their mother, are Smith A. VanValkenburg, of Gorham; Mary E. Salsbury, Morenci; Abram VanValkenburg, of Ingham county, Mich.; Wellie VanValkenburg, living upon the old farm. Also there are three grand children and one great grand child. Deceased was a kind parent and a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a believer in Christianity and his last words were all is well. He will be greatly missed in the community where for many years he had resided. The funeral services were conducted at the Congregational church in Morenci on Tuesday.
