Abril Family from Granada, Spain
Frank and Ralph Abril, sons of
Eduardo Abril Dias and Victoria Rodrigues Sanches, were brought to Hawaii in 1907 by their mother and step father,
Jose Avila Guerrero. Accompanying them was their sister,
Felicia Abril. They traveled aboard the ship Heliopolis which left Malaga, Spain in March 1907 and arrived in Hawaii April 26, 1907 after going around the Cape Horn at the tip of South America. The journey lasted 48 days. The ship's manifest lists Jose Avila Guerrero,age 33, farm laborer from Deifontas, Victoria Rodriguez Sanches, age 42, wife; Felisa (Felicia), age 14, step-daughter; Franco, age 11, step-son; and Rafael, age 9, step-son.
The children's father, Eduardo Abril Dias, had died about 1905 in Spain. He was born June 24, 1854 in Deifontes, Province of Granada, Spain, and was a soldier in the Spanish American War . Eduardo fought in Cuba from 1878-1881 and when he returned from the war, Eduardo married Antonia Fernandes Urendes in 1881. Antonia died in childbirth on Nov 6, 1882. Eduardo married Victoria Rodrigues Sanches (see Sanches Rodrigues link) on March 6, 1883 in Deifontes. Victoria was also born in Deifontes about 1865.

- Eduardo Abril, born about 1889.
- Another son, name unknown, born about 1890.
- Elena Abril, born about 1892.
- Felicia Gabriel Abril, born July 21, 1894; died January 17, 1966 in Santa Clara, California. Felicia married Luis Santos Rodriguez (See Rodriguez) in Hawaii.
- Franco (Frank) Abril, born January 13, 1896; died December 17,1978 in Santa Clara County, California.
- Rafael (Ralph Abril), born August 22, 1898; died August 21, 1988 in San Jose, California.
- Another child, nothing is known of this child.
