Revolutionary War pension Claim # S32244

PETER FINN" States that he was born in Maryland, in the County of Baltimore in the year 1750 and as well as he could recollect from information in the records on the 2nd day of July of that year.  He is the son of Shadrack Finn, his father is from Ireland.  He made this statement before a Justices of the Peace, Samuel Davis, in Sumner County, Tennessee on April 9, 1834.  Revolutionary War Records show - he enlisted from Baltimore County, Maryland on March 31, 1778 and served as a Wagoner under Captain John Murry and Thomas Potter and Colonel Thompson for nine months, states that he was in the battle of Monmouth. 

While residing in Washington County, North Carolina, (Later Tennessee), in the Sumner of 1780 he enlisted and served three months as a Private in Captain Valentine Sevier's Company, Colonels Carter and Robertson's North Carolina Regiment. In September of 1780 he enlisted and served as First Sergeant for three months in Captain Valentine Sevier's Company, Colonel John Sevier's North Carolina Regiment.   He was allowed a Revolutionary War pension claim # S32244, Nov. 1832 for his Revolutionary War service.   Pension papers filed in Summer County, Tennessee in 1832, he was placed on the pension roll on July 30, 1834.  Below is a sequence of major events in his life after his Revolutionay War service was over.

1783 - Peter Finn, listed as a Pauper in the Patopsco Lorver Hundred on the Baltimore County, tax list.
1790 - Washington County, N.C., listed as owning 100 acres of land.

1791 - Tax List shows Peter Finn sold the 100 acres of land.
1800 - Census for Padleton District of South Carolina, he is listed with six children.
1805 - He is in Warren County, Kentucky, on March 15, 1805 gives consent for his daughter Allthea to marry.
1810 - In Warren Co., Kentucky, with six of his children, through about 1831.
1831 - Moves around 1831/32 to  Sumner Co., Tennessee, his first wife must have died because she is not listed.
1832 - Peter Finn  filed papers for Rev-War pension, in Sumner County, Tennessee.
1831 - He is back in Allen County, Kentucky, he moved from Summer County.

1832 - He files for a Rev-War pension in Summer County, Tennessee.
1834 - He was put on the pension roll on July 30, 1834, drew $20.00 a year.
1837 - Peter Finn moves to Marion County, Illinois to live with his youngest son, Benjamin.
1840 - He marries a second wife Mary Burns in his old age, he is ninety years old.
1841 - Peter Finn dies and old man at age  91 -  Draws War pension for eight years.

1841 - August 19th, Peter Finn is buried at Mclelland-Andereck Cemetery, Marion County, Illinois.
